Awesome Westinghouse Receiving Tuner (Type RA) Style 307189 & Detector Amplifier (Type DA) Style 307190 Radio from the 1920′s. Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. It appears in Great Overall physical condition especially for its age. The exterior wood casing is in nice shape with no cracks or chips in the wood with only some normal scuffs, marks you would expect from something so old yet still showing that rich color. The wood door on top is in tact with original hinges and operates with ease. You can look at pics and zoom in for more details on the condition of wood. The back and connectors are in Good shape with possibly one screw on cap missing Im not sure if there was one or not on the top left connector as Seen. The face is good with no broken or cracked pieces with the knobs All in turning Condition showing some normal wear on them as well as some marks, on the face. Both badges on the front are in good shape and legible. The inside of the unit is dusty and appears to not have been touched in sometime if ever at all except to remove the tubes as Seen. No tubes installed but other then the dust it appears good. There was a smaller piece with this radio that Im not sure goes to it or not but is in the pictures and will be included with the radio. This was a friends fathers first radio and was handed down to him. I have no idea or way to test it. 79304 – (Receiving Tuner Type RA). 61161 – (Detector Amplifier Type DA). Built around 1922, consisting of a receiver tuner (RA) and a detector amplifier (DA) unit in a single elegant mahogany case and two ebonite front plates. Tuning Range is 180 to 700 meters. The RC circuit was designed by Westinghouse engineers Frank Conrad and Donald Little in 1919. Conrad was the man behind KDKA, the first licensed broadcast station, that began intermittent operations in 1916 as 8XK. The RA and DA went into production in the 1920s after beta testing aboard New York City’s tugboat fleet.
