It takes 12 or 15 seconds to warm up. Dial lamp works, Tone control works well, Tuning is smooth and radio sounds good. With a good antenna it is a fairly sensitive radio. For SW, a longer SWL-type antenna works alot better. I have used an outside 60′ wire antenna. It sometimes helps to have an earth ground connected, just depends on the band/frequency. I repainted its steel case, & put new decals on both the front cover & the panel (I have not put a protective finish over the decals, but I probably would if it it was going to be used/handled alot). Tubes: 6SK7, 6SA7, 6SQ7, 6SC7, 25L6, & 25Z6. It might benefit from a good alignment job, but works well as-is. Includes a spare front cover decal set, and a copy of the SAMS technical/alignment/service note.

This listing is for a pretty uncommon Philco Tropic tube radio. Upon testing, t he chassis came on and the radio worked but the radio is unrestored. The cord was cut long ago. It has the original back and bottom tags. The radio is from a private collection and It is the first I have seen in many years. I pay for heavy duty boxes, 14 Cubic foot bags of peanuts, 300 count air packs, and 1000ft rolls of strong large bubble bubble wrap. I use tons of materials to ensure you get the radio safely. A table radio will go into about 20′ of bubblewrap and then into a bath of well packed peanuts usually. That is all packed with at least 2 of additional packing between the wrap and box sides. Rare 1951 Philco Tropic 3214 Good Leather Cased Tube Radio Radio is housed in a tan leather case that “locks” around it and has a carrying handle… A Philco tropic tube ac/dc short wave leather suitcase radio. Great fun collectible piece with shortwave. I did not test the whole spectrum but it definitely produces amplified audio and can tune in a signal. The antenna is about 5 ft high. Other than some very minor leather wear (see pics) this radio is in great condition. It does not have a battery.
