Beautiful Black Plaskon with Ivory Trim Art Deco Philco Transitone radio model PT-35 from 1939. Without a doubt one of the most Art Deco radios manufactured by Philco before World War II. The cabinet on this great little radio is made of jet black Plaskon with a streamlined wrap around grill of Ivory/creme Colored Tenite plastic with matching tuning dial. Radio retains the original paper label on the bottom, and the original Philco Transitone decal in the front of cabinet, and plastic factory knobs. The radio has a replacement back panel. There is a hairline on the left side at the rear edge near the top of the grill opening (1/2″) The radio measures approximately 5″ high by 8″ wide by 5″ deep. The chassis is clean and complete and when tested, I was able to receive several stations. I have not had this radio electronically restored, and it may have been done at some time in the past; there is no guarantee as to future operation. MADE IN NEW ZEALAND. It is in Very Nice Condition, exactly as it appears in the Photos. It is Complete and Very Clean inside-out. The Power Lead has been updated. As you can see, its Green Cabinet is a Stunningly. Beautiful Colour, and the Set will take pride of place anywhere it is placed. This MW-SW Unit would appear to be a rather rare Model, so don’t miss out! Operationally, it has excellent Sensitivity, receiving Stations across the whole MW Band and on SW with ease. The actual Sound is just Superb; Clear and Full-bodied, with no distortion whatsoever a real pleasure to listen to even for prolonged periods of time. The Tone Control works. Well, and the Radio has more than ample Volume as desired. The Dial Lamp illuminates the Station Dial nicely. The radio was opened up as shown and the bakelite cabinet and knobs were cleaned and polished with Simichrome to a high sheen. I replaced the defective 3 section filter capacitor with modern replacements. I tested the tubes and all are good. I cleaned and oiled the volume control and oiled the tuning capacitor bearings and both operate smoothly. I adjusted the antenna and oscillator trimmers for optimal reception. The radio plays great with good reception all across the dial with plenty of volume. The radio measures 10 1/4″w x 6 1/4″d x 6 1/4h. Please study the photos for condition. A HTF radio called the”Boomerang”. The radio lights up and plays on 700 and a couple of other stations. Does have a humming noise. Good modern looking radio with no cracks or chips in body.
