Tube Radio Vintage

This offering is for a german tube radio. In the range of the model year 1958, the Operette 8 was located in the higher class. It was a typical radio for living room or office. For cost reasons, a basic chassis was developed. This chassis has been installed in many models and equipped with various features. Important was the FM reception, great emphasis was laid. A magic eye for precise tuning was installed. I restored the chassis as well as the housing very carefully. The six tube chassis has been thoroughly cleaned. The fabric of the speaker panel is original. Tar, electrolytic capacitors, magic eye tube EM80 and lamp have been replaced. For the technically interested readers some details. Tubes 6: ECC85, ECH81, EF89, EABC80, EM80(new tube), EL84. Power: AC 110 – 250Volt. Dimensions: 23.2 x 14.2 x 10.2 inch (590 x 260 x 260 mm). Net weight: 24 lb 10.7 oz (11.2kg). I´m using a check-list with approx. 80 points for all work which has to be done in an old tube-radio. So I measured all voltages, tested tubes, checked electrical and mechanical components, checked/adjusted the filters, lubricated the mechanics, checked and fastened screws. The furniture as well as the dial glass is beautiful, cleaned and polished. And did very much more necessary work. The FM provides the amazing thrilling sound these radio are known for. Nevertheless, for serious listening, an external antenna will provide amazing radioreception. Please note this is a Europaen model. FM works up to 100MHz. A few words about me. I’m radio and television master of the “old school”. The training in Germany will be made dual. This is of great advantage. It means the trainee is formed parallel in the company and at school. The company provides practical knowledge and the school teaches the theoretical fundamentals. After three and a half years there is a final exam in theory and practice. By the master exam is possible to open his own business and young people to train. My training in the craft began in 1967 as the tube technology was at its peak. Over time I have repaired several thousand devices expertly. All offered radios are in my collection for decades. Now I reduce my collection and offering some special pieces here.
