Sylvania 620 Vintage Tube Tester for Guitar or Radio Tubes w/ Manual. This is a neat little tester. The outer case is a little dirty, but the inside of the tester really looks great. The manual is in good condition as well. I had never seen one of these testers before. After reading the manual, I can tell you that this tester is not the easiest to familiarize yourself with. The controls are not intuitive, and it takes some time to learn how to use it. However, we were able to successfully test a 6SN7GT. The needle was steady and reasonably accurate. Having said all that, this unit hadn’t been used in many years and would benefit from a calibration service. Please realize that this is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components. It will inevitably need maintenance, however it’s impossible to know whether that will be next week or a few years down the road. Unless you are capable of doing this work yourself (or have access to someone who can), we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you. VINTAGE HICKOK UNIVERSAL CRYSTAL CONTROLLED SIGNAL GENERATOR. Great vintage piece, a nice addition to the workbench for those that love to tinker. This is the 288X model. It is portable, with built in handle. Measures about 16″ x 7″ deep x 13.5 tall. He used this capacitor himself. It’s been stored for years, the cords may need to be replaced. We are not sure if this is in working condition. We are not sure if the machine is in working order, but we do know it was on his workbench. The tags, if any, must be attached. Case and unit show wear scratches imperfections etc. Little black plug shield on end of cable looks to be broken but attachment seems fine. Tube chart sheet doesn’t seem to roll too good and needs adjustment im sure. Unit shows wear but overall is decent for vintage and seems pretty sturdy rock solid. When plugged in light on meter turns on. That’s as far as this has been tested as I’m not a professional on how to use properly. Everything looks extremely clean with surprisingly little wear. I plugged in both the tube tester and the signal tracer; and both turn on. No further testing was done. The kit seems complete to me (please use your own judgement) except for some of the hand tools, etc. That were apparently stored in the lid. It was owned by a gentleman who tinkered with radio and audio repair, but now needs to thin out his collection. It appears to be all original. We tested a metal 6L6 tube, and found the tester to be relatively accurate with great meter movement. However, we strongly suggest replacing all capacitors and other critical components for optimal performance. This is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components.
