This 1947 bakelite gem from Stromberg Carlson features a classic marriage of design combining deco and atomic styling as evident in the bold wrap around grille and uniquely sloped top. Electronically restored and hand polished to a mirror shine. It measures 7″ tall X 12″ wide X 6 1/2 deep. This is a fully restored and working radio that is ready to play, display and enjoy for years to come. This set required a replacement loop antenna. This was done because the original loop antenna was missing when I first got this radio. In the interest of safety, performance and reliability ALL paper, wax and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern day equivalents. Any resistors testing out of their allotted tolerance have been replaced. Every tube was tested and replaced if found to be under performing. Voltages are checked against the manufacturers specs. All moving parts are lubricated for smooth operation. A brand new power cord is added to replace the unsafe and brittle original. The signal strength is then aligned to factory specs to provide peak performance. Lastly, the set is then put through its paces by bench testing it for a minimum of 48 hours (sometimes even longer) to ensure reliability and to allow for a proper’burn in’ period for new components. As a result of this entire restoration process, the set performs clearly, strongly and with that unmistakable tube driven sound. No cracks, breaks or chips. Rich dark chocolate bakelite. H and polished back to its original and natural mirror-like reflectivity while retaining all of the natural qualities and textures of the bakelite. No clear coats or lacquers, No oils and No’quick shine’ tricks are ever used. With each of my hand polished radio cabinets I invest significant time and attention to detail in order to bring you a radio that is worth displaying in your prized collection or proudly accenting your home or office decor. No shortcuts are taken. Quality is the end goal. Knobs & Dial Scale. This radio comes complete with the original bullet style dark butterscotch plastic knobs. Like the cabinet, each has been detailed and polished to a gorgeous luster with no cracks or breaks. The glass slide rule style dial scale is in mint condition with excellent numbering and lettering with no flaking or fading. It is protected by the original curved plastic dial lens which is something that is often missing on this model. This set also comes with the original backboard and has been equipped with a replacement loop antenna from the same era. This was done because the original loop antenna was missing.
