It is model 7G605, also known as the “Bomber”, as it has a bomber aircraft design on it. I obtained this at a house sale, and it was in the attic. I did not attempt to plug it in so as not to damage it. I heard once that could happen with these if you are not knowledgeable about them. The cord looks a little rough. I do not believe it is in working condition. There are two extra old tubes inside which may be the old ones. The case and handle are good. It has the Zenith Wave Magnet and the antenna looks original as well. Please view our other unique items. Nice Rare Tube Hybrid Drake SW-4A Shortwave Radio Receiver. Thanks for looking at my auctions this week. 4 If you live close by or won multiple items, don’t pay immediately. This unit was made in Miamisburg Ohio, a couple hours from me. It has the Radio New York International logo on it. This unit has not been powered on in a decade. It appears to be in pretty nice unmolested original complete condition. I would suggest bringing it up on a variac. From the Internet: The Drake SW4A blends tube and solid-state technology to provide an easy-to-use high performance shortwave broadcast receiver. This radio has an S-meter and 1/4 inch headphone jack. The dial accuracy is ± 3 kHz. 10.75 x 5.5 x 12.25 inches 16 Lbs. Look at the large photographs. The face is very nice. The arc of light in the one dial photo is not wear, just sunlight reflection. There are some scratches on the top. In the rear photos you can see that I cleaned a bit of dust away, so you can see that the chassis will clean up pretty easily. There doesn’t appear to be any rust or anything bad like that. The converter does power on and the backlit dial works as it should. The wood cabinet is very solid and the finish is really, really nice! It measures approximately 17 3/4 by 12 1/4 by 10 1/4. As I understand it, these were made to add shortwave to your existing set. These would have been used with the early Philco cathedrals (70, 90, etc) or on top of an early console. This set was manufactured by the Philadelphia Storage Battery Company in Philadelphia, PA! Please be sure to check out my many other vintage radios that I have for sale! For sale is a Drake SW-4A shortwave receiver with auxiliary speaker model MS. These pieces are in good used condition and good working order. They have been inspected by a technician. He found that a 26.090 MHZ crystal (marked with an X inside the cabinet) is needed for the 15.0 MHZ band. Other than that all bands are receiving correctly. The big black dial is one of the more popular styles of Zeniths out there and this one is sure to not disappoint! The following things were done to this radio. All capacitors were replaced with modern day equivalents. All tubes checked and replaced if found weak or bad. A lot of attention to detail was taken with the electronic restoration of this radio and is especially shown by the careful repacking of the electrolytic cans with modern day capacitors. The radio plays strong and clear, it is picking up 10 stations on short wave and about 8 stations on A. In my area and thats without an antenna!!! All of the knobs and switches turn easily as they should. The wood case is in excellent condition with the exception of a small crack on the top rounded area and a bump on the left side (see pic). What I believe to be the original grill cloth is present and in excellent condition as well. Over all this radio would make a wonderful addition to any collection for listening, display, or both!!
