Most know I will be closing RADIOORPHANAGE over the next couple of years. Now it is time to sell some of my Favorite Vintage Electronics. These are the BEST of my 50+ years of collecting! PRIVATE STOCK FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION!! This 9″ x 6″ x 6. Radio is one in a series of popular automotive inspired designs that Crosley produced. This cabinet’s design is a beautiful example of Mid-Century Modern styling. It has great rounded edges and the left Bull’s Eye gives the set a very striking appearance! This radio is in Exceptional if not Museum Quality with no cracks, chips, or tube burns. It has not been repainted and is the best original SMOKE BLUE I’ve ever seen. I recently sent this radio to my Tech Friend Tom and he replaced 6 capacitors and the speaker. By now you know neither Tom nor I are very interested in cleaning up old radios. This one could use a good clean and polish to really “POP”, but we’ll leave that up to you. BLURB, INFORMATION, and BOILERPLATE. These items all come from a SMOKE FREE, SMELL FREE Home. As I trim my collection, I try to sell a variety of interesting, hard to find Radios, Amplifiers, Record Players, Vinyl, Stereo Receivers, Speakers, Telephones, Transistor Radios, Tube Hi Fi and Audio, Television, Amateur Radio and Communication Devices, Vacuum Tubes, Telegraphs, Gaming Equipment, Early Computers and Calculators. There is something here for any vintage electronics collector or nostalgia buff. My current feedback is over 99% with over 7000 feedbacks. About 1% of the World I can’t satisfy, and I doubt you could either. I was the President of the New England Antique Radio Club and then the New England Vintage Electronics Club for six years. I stepped down at the end of 2018 to concentrate on finding new owners for the Vintage Electronics my son is not interested in. 3 I value you as a customer, and more importantly, a returning customer. 4 I have no interest in taking advantage of anyone, and I have no need to. If you don’t understand how to put an antenna on an old tube radio, or how to connect speakers to a Vintage Amplifier, join a local Antique Radio or Vintage Electronics Club. We take extra care in packaging, Bubble wrap, foam pellets, proper boxes, etc. (NOT the wadded up newspaper trick) There is a cost for doing this right. The make, model, and country of production are all unknown, but this vintage vacuum tube radio has been restored and serviced and is in perfect working order. This is a vintage vacuum tube radio of unknown maker (the power transformer is labeled “SEIDENSHA RADIO WORKS / MELODY”), which has been restored, serviced, and is in perfect working order. In order to give life to the item again, we have restored it to its original condition as it was when we first acquired it (electrical surgery), and we are auctioning it in the hope that it will be rehabilitated and put back into society. The exterior case is coated with oil stainless steel and varnished in the same color to bring out the grain of the wood, and although there are some signs of use due to the passage of time since it was first acquired, such as the missing back cover, there are two substitute dial knobs, and the speaker cloth (cloth) has been reupholstered and replaced. The tubes used are old ST tubes “UY-56 / UX-26B / UX-26B / KX-12F”, 4 tubes in total. The dials are operated by a “power switch” on the left side of the case, and “for main varicons / for playback varicons” from the top of the right front part. The main restoration work this time was to restore the chassis to its original state by removing rust with a scraper, applying oil stainless steel, and varnishing, The power switch had poor contact, which was repaired by applying contact resurrection agent / Replaced the power cord with outlet, speaker cord, and pilot lamp cord / Repaired the center heater bias wires of two UX-26Bs supplied from the power transformer, which were broken in the middle / The power supply choke coil was broken, and a 3K? /4W type resistor was installed / A 3K? /4W type resistor was installed and restored / A 1:3 step-up transformer was disconnected between B and P, so an equivalent transformer was installed / One UX-26B was in NG condition, so it was replaced with a good condition product / An electrolytic capacitor was in NG condition, so a new 22? F 450V x 2 was replaced / A horseshoe speaker was in NG condition, so a new 22? F 450V x 2 was replaced / A 1:3 transformer was in NG condition, so it was replaced with a good condition product. 2 new 22? F 450V speakers / The horseshoe speaker was missing, replaced with a new one in good condition / Removed the antenna coil, checked all the cords and replaced the wiring coverings / Installed the appropriate resistors and adjusted the plate voltage of each vacuum tube / The space between the varicon fins was corroded, cleaned the space between the fins and adjusted the position of the shafts. The shaft position was adjusted and the condition was restored. The inside of the chassis has been cleaned as well. Please check the condition of the item in the photos. New – Unused – Excellent – Very Good – Good – Acceptable Condition: Good. You cannot change your address after placing an order. Package: We will carefully pack your order in a box or envelope. This is a vintage vacuum tube radio of unknown maker. In order to give the product another life, we have restored it in the same condition as when it was first acquired (electrical surgery), and we are auctioning it in the hope that it will return to society anew. We hope that you will understand and accept this item for sale. The exterior case, which makes the most of the wood grain by applying oil stain and varnish of the same color, is in good condition with two dial knobs and back cover, although there are some signs of use due to the passage of time. The speaker was originally a horseshoe speaker, but due to coil disconnection, a “permanent speaker (GENERAL PD-50108) and output transformer” in good condition were installed. The speakers were originally horseshoe speakers, but due to a broken coil, a permanent speaker (GENERAL PD-50108) and output transformer were installed, and a wooden pedestal was newly made due to the change in the speaker diameter size. The dials and other controls are located on the left side of the case, and the upper part of the front case is for the main varicontroller and the lower part for the playback varicontroller. The main restoration work this time is replacement of power cord & speaker cord for safety consideration, replacement of electrolytic capacitor with new 22? F 250V x2 / 10? F 50V x1 (since it was in NG condition), replacement of relay lugs to restore the condition, re-soldering of 3 to 4 soldered-out parts, and re-soldering of each of the varicon and other parts. Soldering / Oil and maintenance are performed to each circumference part such as varicon / “Radio (upper) – PU (lower) switch and external input PU terminal” are added on the upper left side of the back cover Mono sound, but you can listen to audio from CD, iPhone, etc. / Please adjust audio etc. By the additional device side. And made it a fully functional product. How about listening to the nostalgic sound of a vintage vacuum tube radio of unknown maker? The size is 34.5cm wide / 24cm high / 20cm deep, and the weight is about 4Kg. Please check the condition of the item in the photos. VINTAGE PHILCO 37-61 TUBE RADIO. Antique Philco 37-61 radio quick demo of it powered on. Video will open in a new window. Using the mobile app? It appears it has had previous work done. I did not take apart to inspect the bottom area. In the top of the chassis there is a hole where a rectifier or capacitor tube probably would have been so I’m assuming it was replaced at some point and is probably replaced behind or below (I’m not a radio or electronics person, so only going on assumptions that because the radio is somewhat working, it must not be missing an important part). It has some clipping noises and weird inflections of sound at times but see video where I got it to tune in a radio station and I turn the dial a bit but couldn’t tune in much else. I did hear someone talking in a foreign language once but I didn’t capture that in the video. I can’t find an exact match to the design of the front of the radio so it may have been refinished at some point, maybe just the bottom half below the speaker cut-outs OR maybe that was a style, as if it were re-done on the lower half, you would think you would see/feel a significant separation where the what looks like original finish on the upper half meets the black line and different painted finish lower half. To me the upper half and the vertical center part of the lower half look original to me. You be the judge, but it does look good even if has been refinished, so I believe this would be a good candidate to go through and get fully working. It measures 17″ tall and the base is 13 5/8″x9. - This is clean and is in great working condition. This has been recently serviced with a recap (capacitors replaced) by an older experienced radio technician. I wish I knew half of what he knows as it would come in handy for my vintage tube guitar amps. I believe the power cord may have been replaced. The brass plate is in very good condition – the top view does not have that dark area on the left. It was hard to get a better photo using my marginal lighting conditions. The cabinet has some light scratches which I didn’t try to wipe it down with tinted cleaner. I’ll leave anything like that to the next owner who might want to keep as is. I assume that the finish is original but I’m no expert. To me, this is an Eames design and has great styling. The dial face cover is warped. As you can see, the four rubber feet have deteriorated. The volume pot is a little scratchy when going through the volume range; it clears up nicely when needed by just tweaking the knob slightly. It sounds good and gets loud. The red on light works fine and is quite bright, really enhances the appearance. The two nice concentric control dials for tuning and on/off volume controls work well. I think that you will like this radio. Please look at all of the photos carefully and ask any questions you may have.
