VTG (1939) Sears Silvertone 6128 BC & SW Tube Radio Receiver with Magic Eye

I believe that this set is a great candidate for a full restoration. The radio is approximately 20″ W by 9 1/2″ D by 12 1/4 H. When I plugged the radio in and turned it on, the backlit dial lit up as it should but I did not hear any hum or static. The tuning dial needs some work so I could not try to tune any stations in. This radio features one of the awesome Silvertone “magic eye” tuning tubes! I love the look and feel of these. The wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks pretty good. There is quite a bit of veneer damage on the scroll piece at the bottom front of the radio. The pushbuttons will depress but they don’t pop out very well. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. Antique Silvertone radio wood tube R1261 vintage 1940 Broadcast Shortwave Sears

Beautiful 1940 Sears Roebuck Silvertone model R1261 and chassis 100.351. From what I was reading, it has both broadcast and shortwave bands. Looks to be all original but be sure to check out the pictures. Missing the back panel. The outside is pretty clean and still in good shape. Only minor signs of age. A few light wear marks. The grill fabric is in good shape with a few water marks. The tuner has some yellowing which is usual. The unit was plugged in with no sound. Nothing further was tested. It may need a tube replaced. It will not take much at all to get this one sounding great. 18″ wide, 10 1/4″ tall, and 8 1/2 deep. If you need for me to look this information up for you, I can, just let me know. It will be protected well and insured. Let me know if you have questions. VTG (1936) Silvertone 4565 Sears GOLDEN JUBILEE BC & SW Tube Radio with Magic Eye

This is a beautiful radio part of the Sears Golden Jubilee series of radios. The radio did power on when I plugged it in and turned it on. I was able to hear a hum. The backlit dial works as it should and it looks great! The radio has the largest and most impressive gold dial of the Golden Jubilee collection it’s 6 in diameter! The “magic eye” tuning tube also powered on and the green light looks awesome against the gold backdrop. The wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks spectacular. All of the original labeled knobs are present. The tuning knob slips some when you try to tune the dial so I think that function could use a little TLC. All of the other dials seem to be working as they should be. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. This set would look very nice in any vintage themed room or in your collection! The radio measures 18″ x 11″ x 16. The radio has been tested, does in fact receive stations, and delivers the rich, warm sound that only a tube radio can provide.
