Made in Germany , The amazing Blaupunkt Riviera 2154 -3d Version (known also as Pseudo Stereo) was the very first radio which had the Side Loudspeaker high tone effect. Blaupunkt created this radio innovation on the radio market in the year 1954. Radio is electrically restored (plays fine and clear in all bands) and got an upgrade with Isophon Sidespeaker. In essense, the radio’s wooden cabinet took a very time intensive Fender Style full piano finish. The topcoat and coloring is still done in exactly the same method as it was made in the 50′s which utilized nitro cellulose lacquer buffered to high gloss. To avoid that this nice finish work will sink into the wooden pores after a few weeks, we completely primered the wood with polyester (this kind of time intensive works , we do usually only on high class Art Deco furniture pieces). Given these idea, indeed it’s considered time intensive job!! Not to compare with just a simple lacquer coating on the wood. More About the Electrics Restoration. The radio covers a lot of old capacitors which we had to replace to assure you will have a safe and great working radio. Band Filter was repaired, Sonra dial string replaced. All contacts was carefully cleaned (this takes hours since the push button unit contacts are at most Blaupunkt radios installed on the sides of the pertinax plates which makes it very difficult to clean) new rectifier unit installed , new high voltage electrolytic caps were installed. Many wires were replaced since they were too old and damaged, mechanic oiled and repaired. The radio plays even with a simple short antenna absolute great in all bands! NEW EM80 Mgic eye tube installed. Brass parts were dismounted, polished and finally plated with Nickel and 24K Hardgold. Alun frame around the wooden cabinet , was polished as well and coated with Zapon lacquer. HSeveral covers were already made for different brands.
