NOS SYLVANIA 2N95 GERMANIUM POWER TRANSISTOR Collectors Tube Radio. Condition is New in Box!! The Sylvania 2N68 and 2N95 were some of the first germanium power transistors available commercially, beginning in 1955. These were made with an integral finned heatsink to allow increased power output. Sylvania supplied both PNP (2N68) and NPN (2N95) transistors with similar characteristics, and this allowed substantial flexibility in circuit design, especially for audio circuits that did not require expensive or bulky transformers. The characteristics and suggested circuits for these transistors is well documented in the 1955 Sylvania booklet ” 28 Uses for Junction Transistors”. The Sylvania type 2N101 (supplied without a finned heatsink) is equivalent to the 2N68, and the 2N102 is equivalent to the 2N95.

Vintage Emerson 7BW-179-2 wood tube table radio. Wood cabinet, original knobs Bakelite? This is old, vintage and used, so it has expected age and wear. Wood cabinet / veneer and the grill are in good condition. Untested, but we were told by the previous owner that it works. We are not experts and are hesitant to plug it in/test it. Here’s some information about it: It uses a crystal (a semiconductor) to detect radio signals. A cat whisker diode on the inside as shown in photos is used to fine tune radio waves. A simple diagram of a crystal radio is shown in above photos. To aincrease volume one would need to make a simple outside antenna. This is a straight wire strung between 2 points and insulated at both ends. See internet for details.

Up for sale is an early 50′s Packard Bell 602 Tube Radio. I recapped and aligned this set some years back. I think I also had to replace the speaker. I tested the set and it is indeed working as it should, although the volume control is a bit scratchy so it likely needs some cleaner. I’m just getting rid of this guy as I have too many sets that are just sitting around. It’s time for him to go to a new home. The cabinet could be in a little better shape, some scuffs and scratches, but if you know how to refinish them then this should be a fun one. The knobs have some white stuff on them, not sure what it is, but it’s due to the type of plastic used, I cleaned them a while ago but it just came back, so they’ll need to be cleaned again. Oh, the Packard Bell emblem is also missing the letters’ell’. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’m open to offers too, so don’t hesitate to send one.
