This Drake R-4B is in decent cosmetic condition. The faceplate looks good, but the cabinet looks like it has been repainted at some point as there is a strange texture to it, particularly towards the front. The copper chassis has some corrosion, but if you know anything about Drake equipment you’ll know that this is very common. There are a few crystals installed, and all controls turn smoothly. This was part of a radio collection we recently acquired. It became clear to him that this would never happen, and as a result he decided to sell most of his collection to us. We’re passing it along exactly as we acquired it, untested and as-is. We have no idea as to when this piece was last used, and there is a good chance that it will need new tubes, capacitors, alignment, etc. We will guarantee the transformers, but that’s as far as we can go. This unit is believed to have not been used in many years, likely decades, and with this in mind we have made no attempt to power-on this unit or test in any way. Unless you are qualified and capable of working on this unit yourself, or have access to someone who can, we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you.
