For Sale is an early 1940′s all Plaskon 5 tube Addison model 2 radio know as the “Baby Addison”. This model was manufactured in Canada in Catalin, Plaskon and any # of combinations of the two plastics. This original Plaskon cabinet is a highly marbled Olive color, with dark and light brown swirls, that I’ve heard referred to as a peanut butter color. I’ve also heard this was an “end of day” color. I believe it is unusual and just one of the 30+ color combinations Addison produced. The original Plaskon waterfall trim and bumpers are a slightly darker swirled olive color. The original cabinet and trim are damage-free; no chips, cracks, hairlines or tube burns. The cabinet, trim and knobs have a lovely, shiny patina. The original dial face perfectly matches the cabinet color and is in great condition. The original dial lens is still clears and in great shape. The pinwheel knobs are a dark maroon in great condition. Cord appears to be original. Original paper label on bottom. The item “Vintage all Plaskon Baby Addison radio. Near mint, working. This is a rare Espey Model 31 Roundabout tube radio chassis. It is red Catalin and Ivory Plaskon. It is not complete and is not working. It is missing parts including one of the end caps and some of the dial mechanism. The separate power and antenna wires have been cut off. It is in good condition with some general wear and stains. It can be cleaned up some more. There is a crack in one of the louvers on the red end cap. No other breaks or cracks. It measures about 8.5 long. This is an awesome little Emerson “Emersonette” model 540A in red. I plugged it in, but I couldn’t get any sound out of it at all. Has a small chip with a hairline coming from it in the back top left corner, and a hairline from the back top right corner going to the front. Beautiful 1940s era Remler Scottie tube radio model 5510 in excellent looking and working condition. Plays well with no hum and picks up many stations. Tuner moves easily across the dial & light works too. No damage to its Ivory Bakelite/Plaskon/Plastic case. Original backing board has 3 pins. Cord is still pliable but a bit stiff. About 10 x 6.5 x 6. Radio will be double boxed for safe transport. Recently Fed Ex and the other carriers have dramatically increased costs when factoring even a small amount of dimensional weight (size of the box). This stunning clock radio radio is a great example of late 1940′s styling. The thick plastic case is made of Plaskon in an ivory/white color. The radio is a typical All-American-Five tube circuit, but with all octal tubes — probably one of the last clock radios to use octal tubes before everyone started using the 7-pin miniature tubes that had been developed during WWII. This radio is in outstanding cosmetic condition. The Plaskon case is smooth and shiny with no cracks or chips. All the knobs are original and it even has the original labels on the back and bottom (see photos). Inside, this radio has been completely recapped (sorry, no photo). As a result this radio plays with plenty of volume and good tone. The clock works too, keeping accurate time and performing the automatic radio alarm function. This is a very well made radio with a classic design that could be a great part of your vintage decor or a nice addition to an antique radio collection. I have been collecting and restoring vintage radios and TV’s for a very long time. Please see my other auctions for more vintage antique radios, TV’s, and other electronic items. Emerson Q-157 “Clockette” This is the desirable white Plaskon cabinet version of the Emerson 157, with the “Q” chassis. The tubes are 6D6, 6C6, 25Z5GT and 25L6GT. It uses a resistance line cord that is rapidly falling apart after almost 80 years. When I got this radio the cord was in slightly better shape, so I did plug it in and slowly bring it up on a variac. All the tubes lit up and a very low hum came from the speaker. Turning the volume control caused a crackle in the speaker but it didn’t play beyond that. The Plaskon cabinet and knobs are in very good condition, the tuning control and dial pointer move easily as does the volume control.
