See title and pics for description. Plugged it in and I was able to get a few stations in. Has a small stress line by the handle and another on the back (both pictured). Has a tiny nick on the front (pictured). Overall extremely nice condition for a radio from 1941. Even still lights up. Has radio stations for California listed on it.
This is a red plaskon, not painted emersonette radio. Hard to find in this bright red color. There is a hair line or heat line from the edge of the top right of the dial. It barely shows and goes into a hard to see dark line across the top. Probably caused by tube and bulb heat. You can feel the line at the front, not on top. There is also a chip at the bottom that barely goes to the side of the radio as seen in the pictures. The cord is good, and for now it was playing. No guarantee that will continue due to its age.

Vintage tube Radio Emerson 540 rare Red Plaskon not Catalin not Painted Working. This is a rare Emerson 540 from 1947 this was called the midget Emersonette. This radio came in four colors Ivory brown Bakelite green and red, the red and green radios are harder to find and these cases were very fragile made with Plaskon plastic as a result few have survived, nearly impossible to find without cracks or chips. This radio is not painted and is a original red Emerson 540. The radio does have hairline cracks on the bottom please see photos there are 2 hairlines in each corner coming from the screw area and two other hairline cracks I thought or scratches until I took the chassis out and inspected. There are no visible cracks or hairlines on the top-or front or sides making it a perfect displayable radio. The radio has been electronically restored and works great I was able to tune in many stations without harm or static, speaker has no cracks and vertical tuning scale slides well up and down the scale, looks like the original grill cloth has been replaced it does have the original knobs and original white paint from the Emerson logo is still there and visible Electrical cord has been replaced. Well double box this fragile radio very carefully.
