A fairly common radio rarely found in this condition. Radios this nice and original are a rare find. The original finish is beautiful right down to the perfect decal. The grille / bezel is made of Tenite. A material that is almost always showing warpage. This one is perfect! . This grille is excellent and the best example I’ve seen. The cardboard back looks like new. The chassis is clean and retains all original Philco features. There is a hairline crack in the plastic lens cover, virtually unnoticeable. This radio has been serviced and plays great. No hum and great volume. 13″W x 7-1/2″H x 6-1/2D. This pre-war table model features a right front dial panel with the famous “red pointer” dial indicator and plastic grille with horizontal louvers. Uses six tubes, has three knobs, carrying handle and feet. It receives broadcast and shortwave. Tenite grille in excellent condition. 13-1/2″W x 9″H x 7D. Vintage 1949 Philco Transitone Model 49-500 Vacuum Tube Radio Code-121 restored. This beautiful 1949 Art Deco walnut Bakelite vacuum tube table radio comes from a non-smoking environment and has no foul odors or nicotine residue. It has been electronically restored and is safe and stable to use. It has been given a new life and should last for another 76 years. The radio has been kept as original as possible with the exception of the tubes that were replaced and the electronic components used to restore the circuitry. It has an internal built-in loop antenna that that provides good strong reception, eliminating the need for an external antenna wire and plays loud and clear. The chassis has no rust or corrosion and the Walnut colored Bakelite case is clean and shiny. The case has some light scuffs as to be expected, but is in overall excellent condition. Note: There is a small crack in the lower left side of the case, which has been professionally repaired from the inside with high-strength clear epoxy and fiberglass screening. It’s barely visible (see pics) and is now actually stronger than before! The dial scale window is clean, transparent and clear with no yellowing or opaque hazing. The speaker is in excellent condition and sounds loud and clear. The original back-board was missing (as with most of these old radios), however, a new one was hand-made from real wood veneer and pressboard to replace it – (see pics). Check and replaced weak tubes where needed. Replace power supply circuit filter capacitors. Replace all tubular wax capacitors regardless of condition. Check and replace all out of tolerance resistors. Replaced damaged volume control pot. Install new polarized power cord. Install new pilot light bulb. Replaced all corroded wiring. Fabricated a custom back-board to replace the missing back-board. Aligned tuned circuits to Mfg specifications. Repaired crack in case with high-strength epoxy. Bench tested for 3 days to ensure stability and safe operation. NOTE – Power supply safely modification. Most of the AC/DC radios from this era had a shock hazard design flaw affectionately known as the “Hot Chassis”, which was present whether the radio was turned on or off. If you were to touch the chassis and at the same time touch a ground source such as a water pipe, there was a 50% chance that you were in for a nasty shock! This was the result of designing the circuits to run on either AC (alternating house current), or DC (direct current), which was needed back then because many homes and most farms had no A/C electric service. They either had (Edison) direct current, or no wiring at all and ran their radios on batteries. The Power supply circuitry in this radio has been custom rewired to eliminate this built-in shock hazard and is now safe. As long as the electrical outlet is correctly wired according to US standard electrical building code (NEC), or NFPA 70 building code, which is true with all electrical household appliances. The trade-off to this change is that the radio can no longer run on D/C or batteries. Not a great loss compared to the safety factor gained! Country: United States of America (USA). Vintage Pre WW2 1942 Philco Model 42-340 Table Radio/shortwave. Replaced 1-6volt display lamp, both 7B7 tubes and the 7C6 tube with new. Brushed out the tuner, blew out the dust. Turned on and both broadcast & short wave operational. I will leave any other service to a real radio person. I know the pots will need cleaning.. Just let me know. Thanks for looking.

We did nothing to make repairs or diagnose. We will not accept a return. Superhet with RF-stage; ZF/IF 455 kHz; 2 AF stage(s). Power type and voltage. Alternating Current supply (AC) / 115 Volt. Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil). Philco, Philadelphia Stg. Tablemodel, Box – most often with Lid (NOT slant panel). Condition Notes: Wear and scuffs on surfaces. Varnish flaking off in spots. One crack in wooden “grille” face. Tested the radio – it did NOT work. Turntable turns, arm doesn’t stay in place – but we did nothing to diagnose or repair. Vintage Philco Model 41-221 Tube Radio Broadcast Overseas S. The back is not original. I obtained a number of vintage radios from the estate sale. Please look at the photos. This radio is in very nice condition and would make a fine addition to anyone’s collection. I will be listing more soon.
This Philco model 511 radio came from a estate of a large collection of vintage tube radios, The knobes turn freely and dial for channels. The hand written note shown tells a little history of this one and explains the fact that it requiers a long antenna and that it requiers a speaker. Fabric on the cord is bad and getting stiff, not sure if any bear wires are there from it. The radio has tubes, 6 of them. The radio model is 511 It is called a metal coffin style radio and made of heavy metal. The radio is untested because it needs a speaker hooked up to it. Also as show I like to take pictures in differant lighting, but this is the unit you will get.
