All of the connecting wires for the batteries are present and labeled. All of the knobs turn smoothly and properly, and the dial indicator moves properly as well. The grill cloth is in excellent condition with no fraying or holes. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. There are a number of veneer chips along the top back edge, as well as the front right corner and left side. In addition, the veneer is lifting in spots on the top and there are 2 cuts in the body along the left edge. Despite these flaws, the radio presents quite well and will be a fine addition to any collection. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.
Rare, vintage 1920′s battery operated tube radio that is marked on the front panel “Gershon Super Five”. The unit could be from a small local company that has yet to be documented. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can determine the origin of this piece. The radio appears very similar to the Steinite Velvetone Super-Five. The radio is untested, but it should not take much to get this piece working. All of the knobs turn smoothly and properly, but the center knob is cracked. The front bakelite panel has no chips or cracks and the lettering shows minimal wear. All five of the 01A tubes are present. The radio measures 20″ long, 10.5″ deep at the base and about 8.25 tall. The radio has a slant front, with the base deeper than the top. The radio is painted black inside and out. The interior is very clean and all of the components appear to be present. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own this great early and unique piece that is a must have for your collection. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.

Voltage converter for battery operated tube radio receivers / transceivers. Solution to the problem of mobile use. Allows for mobile operation of vintage DC operated radios from a single 12V battery. This is a battery consolidator providing multiple voltages from a single DC source. It also becomes a battery eliminator when powered by an AC/DC adapter (also available). Converts 11 – 30VDC (Vin) to necessarily filament, plate, and grid voltages. “A” (filament) supply : “Ax”: 1.25V to 10V / 3 amp, “B” (plate) supplies: 135V/ 80mA, 90V/ 60mA, 67.5V /45mA, 45 and 22.5V/ 5mA, sum of all “B” supplies. B-, A- and Vin(-) are common in this converter. It CAN NOT BE USED to power farm radios using 1.5 and 90V batteries. Radios requiring B- to be connected to A+ will operate with B-connected to A- but with slightly reduced plate voltages. DC input can be supplied by battery (see photo, battery not included) or appropriately sized linear AC / DC adapter (see photo, adapter not included). Two indicators: one indicates battery is connected and voltage converter is ON, the other indicates radio is also ON and drawing current. Small size (4.7 x 4.7 x 4″ height) with cover on (3″ height with cover off). Light weight 18 oz. Without battery or adapter. DC in: 11 – 30V. Operating temperature 0-35 deg C. Contains input and output EMI filters. Overload, short circuit and reverse polarity protected. Converters can be connected in series to provide higher “B+” voltages: 157.5, 180, 202.5, 225 or 270V (247.5V can also be provided with series connection and simple adjustment). Series connection requires two converters and two batteries or AC/DC adapters.
