Radio has been tested. Powers on and produces sound/static from the speaker, but I was not able to tune in radio stations. Power cord and original components are present, but full functionality has not been guaranteed. This is a beautiful mid-century piece with classic retro styling and original vintage character. Mid-century modern / atomic era design. Depth: about 7.5. Back panel markings include. Aero Vane High Efficiency Loop. Excellent display, restoration, collector, or decor piece. The tubes take a few seconds to warm up, but it Works well. The clock works and keeps time. These are tough to find with the cases in good condition, as they were prone to cracking. This one was kept tucked away on a shelf in a bedroom closet for the last 50 years, and its condition reflects that. Feel free to ask questions or for more pictures.

Manufactured by Galvin Manufacturing Corp. In Chicago, this tabletop unit includes the Aero-Vane high-efficiency loop antenna and is designed for 117 volts AC operation. The rear panel reveals the original tube layout and internal components, making it an excellent candidate for restoration or a striking decorative piece for any mid-century or industrial-themed space. It does work as you can hear in the video 17″ LONG x 12″ WIDE x 10 DEEP.

Rare Small Motorola Pixie Portable Tube Radio Vintage Early 1950s Model 45P1. Untested because I don’t have the batteries to test it. The inside looks very clean, SEE PICTURES. Tube Lineup: It uses a high-performance superheterodyne circuit with four tubes: one miniature (1R5) and three subminiature tubes (1AH4, 1AJ5, and 1AG4) that are roughly the diameter of a pencil. Motorola Pixie Model 45P1, a notable piece of mid-century electronics history introduced around 1955. Despite its compact size, which resembles early transistor models, it is actually a portable tube radio using specialized subminiature vacuum tubes. Model Variants: The 45P1 designation refers specifically to the Ebony (Black) color variant. Audio: It features a 2-inch permanent magnet speaker protected by a gold-toned metal grille. Portability: Measuring approximately 6″ x 4″ x 2, it was one of the slimmest tube-based portables of its era before transistor technology became dominant. This radio is a “battery-only” set and requires two specific power sources to operate. “A” Battery (Filament): One standard 1.5V “C” cell battery. “B” Battery (Plate): A 45V DC battery. The back cover seems to be missing it’s hinges and a piece of the plastic is missing. That is why the price is lower then others listed.

Powers on and produces sound but does not tune to stations – likely needs capacitors. Radio is a very cool piece of MCM history. Was made by Motorola in 1957 in Chicago. The antenna is inside the radio. There is a small spot on the top of the radio where the plastic has oxidized, shown in photos. This radio is listed for repair. Someone with more technical knowledge-how than me can definitely get this working correctly again.
