Cute turquoise blue Motorola tube amp radio! There are two spots on the top that look like burns and a crack near the back. The sides and bottom are in great shape. The second-hand is bent. All knobs twist as they should. There is a chip in the blue plastic edge of the tuner between the “8″ and “10″. This radio needs a detailed cleaning. There is static/white noise after the tubes warm up for under a minute and then silence. The clock does not seem to move. 11.25 inches long. 5.75 inches high. 5.75 inches deep, with knobs. Here we have a mid century modern Zenith tube clock radio. The clock and radio both work. However on the radio the selector string needs to be replaced. We also recommend replacing the chord. Measures approximately 15-3/8″ in length, 7-1/2″ tall and 7-1/2 wide. Has a great mid century mod look! Here is some information we found at the radio museum. United States of America (USA). Power type and voltage. Alternating Current supply (AC) / 60 cycles, 117V = 110 -120 Volt. Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) / Ø 5.25 inch = 13.3 cm. Model: X733Y Ch= 7X03 – Zenith Radio Corp. Modern plastics (no Bakelite or Catalin). Tablemodel with Clock (Alarm-) Clock Radio. 15.5 x 7.5 x 7.5 inch / 394 x 191 x 191 mm. The Zenith family X733 has been made with and without clock. This we state according to Beitman Volume R-16, where you find the words: The Material below and on the adjacent page at right is exact for Model T723, Chassis 7T04. This material also may be used for servicing Models T724, Y724G, R, W; Y723-G, R, W, Chassis 7T02, 7Y02, 7Y04, which are similar; Models X733G, R, Y; Y733G, Y, R, Chassis 7X03 and 7Y03, are also very similar. The section Diagram for chassis 7X03 with measures for a clock is for the models X733G, X733Rand X733Y. SAMS Photofact shows three same looking families, the X733, the Y733 and the Z733, all with alarm clock and only the picture shows little differences between each other: Y See SAMS set 339, folder 17, Dec. 1956 indicates the 3 knob functions for the clock within the Dial, Y not, but both have a sleep function (top knob), Z733 See SAMS set 339, folder 17, Dec. 1956 misses this top knob and probably the sleep function. The SAMS index refers to the same document as for Y and lists Z733G, Z733R and Z733Y (chassis 7Y03Z) but the pages do not show any trace of a Z. We may believe that it is the same model without sleep function – for a cheaper price. The suffixes G (light gray), R (brownish red) and Y (black) are used for the colors. Up for sale is this amazing zenith owl eye radio in a rare green color! The radio is a beautiful piece with an amazing 1950s design. The case has some scuffs, spots of discoloration, and scratches (see photos) but is overall nice. The clock works when plugged and so does the radio. I’m not an expert but I think this will need a good cleaning and service as it is very old. Tested and working nicely with good reception and sound quality. I did some minor dust cleaning and visual inspection inside the radio and it shows very nice and well cared for throughout all its years. Veneer is in nice condition, it does show some wear however there are no chips or pieces broken off the finish. Has a few minor scratches as expected for age but nothing unusual. On SW Band: tested after performing some cleaning inside radio and note some reception on the band. Once holding SW button down there is high quality reception on this band. Also the back light is in working condition. Note this one has its original period style feet. See the photos please on this beautiful vintage radio. THE ONLY REAL FLAW WITH THIS RADIO IS THAT THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE BAND SELECTOR KNOB HAS BEEN BORED-OUT AND WILL NOT CHANGE BANDS. IT IS TOO LOOSE. WE ARE INCLUDING ANOTHER BAND SELECTOR LOWER PART WITH A BROKEN TAB THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE TO SHORT WAVE, JUST PUT THIS PART IN PLACE OF THE KNOB NOW THERE. WOOD SHELL IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION WITH MODERATE WEAR FOR ITS AGE. THERE IS A LITTLE VENEER FLAKE MISSING ON THE UPPER LEFT FRONT CORNER WHICH CAN BE SEEN IN THE GALLERY PHOTOS.
