VIntage PHILCO Transitone 1949 Boomerang Bakelite Mid Century Modern Phono Radio. Today we are happy to offer for sale a wonderful vintage 1940′s Philco Transitone “Boomerang” phono tabletop radio! Philco (founded in 1892) was a pioneer in battery, radio, and television production. In North America, it is the Philco brand owned by Philips. In other markets, it is the Philco International brand owned by Electrolux. In the early 1920s, Philco made storage batteries, “socket power” battery eliminator units, and battery chargers. This classic and retro Transitone radio, originally introduced in 1939, is the epitome of early Mid Century Modern style and design. The USA-made tabletop photo radio features a classic dark brown bakelike “boomerang” curved body with cream grill front and round tuning knobs. The radio appears to retains all its’ original parts and components, including original power cord. The radio is marked on bottom with Philco paper labe and additionally on the back; this radio is model 49-501 Serial No. The radio presents well and is in good vintage, as-found condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age and use. There is minor surface wear and scuffing. To our limited knowledge it appears all components are intact. This classic Boomerang radio will make a great addition to any antique and vintage radio collection… Fresh to the market! Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage General Electric clock / radio. Still retains the original labels on the underside (see photos). Our eyesight isn’t the greatest, but it looks like the Model # C-481. 12.75″ wide x 6.25″ tall x 6 deep. Condition: Given it’s age, we’d say it’s in very good cosmetic condition – no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There are a few mild scratches / scuff marks here and there, but nothing in our opinion that overly interferes with the display or functionality of the item. While mostly very clean, it could probably use a once over in that department; we didn’t attempt to clean it in any manner – it’s in the condition in which it was acquired. When plugged in for an extended period of time, the clock was noted to work, and it ran silently. The volume control knob also works as it should. The electric wiring is original to the unit, and it is in good condition – no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. As with all vintage electronics, one should probably have it checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. RR3404.5 made in Italy, this is a rare prototype for the foreign market. The case has been made with glass mirror mosaic tecnique and it’s a real masterpiece. Number of chassis is 15941 and it’s the same of the original tubes. This radio has been tested and it’s working but due to the age I suggest a full complete refurbish. As You can see the chassis it’s a bit bent. This is for a Vintage 1950s Torpedo Jetsons style Art Deco Tube Radio. It does pull local stations. Takes a few seconds to kick in once its turned on, but sounds surprisingly good for the era it was made. Front could use a bit of a cleaning, other than that the rest is pretty good as seen in the photos. The gold flake like paint on the logo has not worn off. No cracks or chips. The item in the photos is exaclty what you will receive. Will be professionally packaged with the utmost care and attention. The 56H is one of the more exciting designs from the Motorola brainchild. The turbine or cone model was available in ivory, brown, turquoise, and green. The gold metal cone with station numbers rotated as you tuned into radio stations. The cabinet was a hefty urea plastic. With standard AA5 tubes that are mounted on a Placir double sided circuit board. Sound comes out of a 4 paper cone speaker. The oval knobs are color matching and specific to this model. This beautiful example is in very good condition. The radio is working and currently pulls local stations. Very Good See pictures. Very light wear from use. 12 x 6.75 x 6.25.
