Vintage MCM Trutest 5 Tube Superheterodyne KT-204 Kit Radio (Working Japan). For restoration is a great looking Trutest 5 tube Superheterodyne KT-204 kit radio with Jetsons like styling, retaining it’s original 6 foot 5 inch power cord, marbleized hard plastic case resting on a swivelling base. Small radio measures 5-3/16 inches in height, 8-11/16 inches in length, and 4-9/16 inches in width not including either of the two knobs, working, and being surprisingly loud, but obviously needing some servicing as it sounds like the Daleks are invading. The case needs a full restoration and shows some damage, there being a small distorted area at the top backside where it appears like it over heated, with the faceplate showing a few cracks where the retaining screws were over tightened, and also missing it’s name plate “see photos”. Believe this is an Astoria? Does not appear to have that brand name on it, but looks exactly like a few others I’ve found online. None this color however. So perhaps it’s pretty rare? A vintage reproduction perhaps? Definitely not modern which is all I can say for sure. Plugged in and nothing happens. That is the extent of testing. No chips or cracks. Some minor scratches and slight discoloration along top and left side. Please view pics for exact condition. Will receive the item displayed.
Plastic outer case has some scratches on it. There is also one small chip in the plastic on the top left, as pictured. Manufactured in the United States and is a great addition to any collection of vintage radios. This radio is a great way to own a piece of history and experience the charm of vintage technology. There is some interference and unbalancing when turning the Tune and Balance pots. Will need to have potentiometers cleaned up or replaced to be 100%. This is a great little radio and really nice shape no cracks chips or flaws on the case the clock face is super nice has the mid-century stars great clock you won’t see that face on the later models is missing the little gold covers over the knobs but the knobs are there.
