Unmolested ORIGINAL ZENITH BLACK DIAL RADIO from local family estate. I have provided pics from every angle and they can be enlarged as well. Untested because of what I found below….. Question: I just acquired an antique radio. I don’t know if it works or not. Can I plug it in and turn it on? Plug in and turn on an old, unrestored radio until it has been thoroughly checked for signs of trouble. This includes, but is not necessary limited to. Replacing the electrolytic (filter) condensers. Examining the underside of the chassis, paying close attention to the bottom of the power transformer. Look for any signs of a waxy substance leaking from the transformer. If you see it, the transformer has overheated at some time and may no longer function properly (if at all).
Stromberg-Carlson was “The Rolls Royce of Radio” for their quality of engineering design and construction. This model is very rare. This is a large radio and sports nine tubes including a push-pull audio amplifier with 10-inch speaker. It needs an antenna. Also, the push buttons are a little funky, and the plate around the channel viewer is cracked as seen in the pictures. 24-1/2″W x 12-3/4″H x 10D. Thank you for looking.
See title and pics for description. Very cool vintage radio that works great. Has a few condition issues. Has a large crack on the top of the radio. No other cracks or chips. Missing the glass or plastic that covers the dial. Comes with its original tag. Also has a small external speaker that works and is attached to the radio.
Missing the back piece. Some light scratches, aged dust. I didn’t play around with it much just turned it on to see if it worked to post it. Needs a good cleaning in the back (lots of aged dust). Measures 16 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ x 6. Weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces (prior to packaging). We are not antique dealers, collectors or experts. We describe the item along with any flaws and markings we can find the best we can.
