You are viewing an outstanding. It is extremely rare to find a FADA Model 790 in “mint” restored condition. There simply doesn’t exist another FADA 790 restored to this level available anywhere in the world! Yes, the price is high, but a huge investment was made in it’s restoration. The FADA radios available for restoration these days have been severely compromised over time. Translation: that mean’s the only FADA radios left on the open market have crummy cabinets and dubious electronics. Frankly, it required three (3) choice FADA 790 radio’s to provide enough original parts to complete one Great Restoration; and I’m picky. One of the attached photos shows a junker side-by-side a re-finished chassis. Having cleaned off all the dirt and grime, the very best cabinet happened to still have it’s original protective high gloss baked on glaze finish; a lucky find. Subsequent to cleaning, the cabinet was treated with Carnauba Wax. Thus, you will never need anything other than an old t-shirt to dust off this radio. NEVER use anything like Pledge on it! The wax treatment makes the cabinet self-polishing with a soft cloth rub; it also repels dust. The “thick” bakelite cabinet is in exceptional condition without any cracks, scratches or signs of old-age oxidization. Pristine would be the description. Check out all the photos. Lit up, the original embossed gold station dial is absolutely spectacular. The cabinet itself measures 15″ x 7″ x 8.5high. Custom re-coned 7 inch speaker with new voice coil. New plastic dial cover with matching gold leaf trim on inside. New dial cord string. New (not new old stock) on/off Volume Control. New (not new old stock) Tone Control. Chassis & Tuner cleaned and detailed using Dupont Electronic high pressure solvent treatment. Chassis electronics are in superb working condition after a thorough overhaul which included replacing the expensive filter capacitor which is the round silver can you see on top of the chassis. All the tubes are “new old stock”. The dial bulb is new and rated at 3000 hours. There is an RCA connector in the rear for attaching an old style amplifier-less phonograph. FADA designed this model to utilize an internal antenna for FM reception. That means, the FM antenna is linked to the AC power cord wire. Accordingly, moving the power cord will change the reception on FM. I used an extra long power cord to enhance this feature; and yes, the power cord is new. I happen to live within the NYC Metro broadcasting area where radio signals are very strong. The internal FM antenna worked just fine across the dial at my location. However, depending on your geographic location, your experience may be different. Thoroughly bench tested, this FADA 790 radio set is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure to it’s proud new owner. I will double box using new cartons so that your new radio arrives undamaged in transit.
