This is a beautiful working fada bullet radio. The bezel has some minor scratches or cracks (you can see them in the pictures), but the case is in very good shape (as you can also see). This radio has a dark maroon bakelite finish with ivory accents. The face is in very good condition with all knobs working. The dials turn properly with original knobs. A wonderful find for any radio collector. This exceptional radio’s is a blend of Atomic, Jet Age, Art Deco & Mid Century Modern design by Zenith. It was considered cutting edge styling for the time. This particular radio has the less common Maroon and ivory color combination with the handle on top as well as the tone knob on the right side. Zenith was founded as “Chicago Radio Laboratory” (CRL) in 1919 by Ralph H. Mathews and Karl Hassel to build small quantities of receivers primarily for radio amateurs. Their factory included station 9ZN, whose call letters inspired the Zenith brand name (initially as Z-Nith) used by CRL. Although the company was small, it had a valuable asset in the form of an Armstrong regenerative receiver patent license negotiated by Mathews in 1920. The company’s meteoric rise began when businessman Eugene F. During his reign at Zenith, McDonald’s autocratic and ruthless style earned him the title of Commander. This Catalin (sometimes mistaken for Bakelite) radio is about 11 ¼ long, 6 ¾ deep and 7 ¼ high overall. It was manufactured by the Garod Radio Corporation, Brooklyn NY in 1945. This sleek Art Deco Catalin radio shows the rare Maroon and Butterscotch Yellow combination with a Red and White dial face. It is in good used condition; sturdy with no chips or cracks. There are small marks and mild scuffs, and the surface would benefit from a cleaning. One rubber foot and one back pin are missing. The radio plays but the dial cord is broken and must be replaced to change channels. This is a rare opportunity to own a quality Catalin radio that seldom appears on the market. FADA vintage model 711 Catalin Radio Polished Maroon Bakelite, nice, works well! Of course most were in Spanish but perhaps the radio is bilingual being it has lived all its life in El Paso, Texas. Most of the schematic is still on the bottom. This radio belonged to my wife’s mother and somehow got cracked sometime during one of our moves. I thought I would surprise my wife and restore the radio but now she feels that at our age it is best to sell it. I found a U tube video about repairing cracks on plastic and Bakelite radio cases and then ordered the Plast-Aid kit. I did everything the video said, cleaned, grooved the crack, rough sanded it, cleaned again, taped the outside of the crack, and applied the two part agent out doors as this is something you do not want to do in the house. I also used mesh to reinforce as it too was recommended. I let it cure for a week and then removed the tape and cleaned and lightly sanded again. I feel it came out great and strong. I did not attempt to fill anything and a friend said to paint it but I feel that even with the crack line it is too pretty to paint. I then used #2 plastic polish and then car wax to bring out its beauty. I realize that perhaps it sounds like the radio is a basket case but it is not. The chassis and case are clean and free of corrosion. The plastic dial cover has been cleaned and polished and while not perfect it is presentable. The antenna is also good. This is really a wonderful working radio that would stand tall in a collection or just to use. Vintage Tesla Talisman 308-U Maroon Tube Radio. Very nice

Up for your consideration is a Tesla Talisman 308-U Maroon colored tube radio. This one is rarer than the brown version. This is an extreme art deco design that is timeless. It appears original and in excellent cosmetic condition, and yes it works. As always with older electronics; please have it checked out by a competent technician. You will need to remove the back and reposition a plug-in on the back for 110 V AC use. You will also need an adaptor for the plug. The case has no cracks or chips. The grill, dial, knobs, and back look great. Screw posts look perfect. It is a beautiful radio that will make an excellent addition to any vintage tube radio collection.
