Hello and welcome to Milostreasures! At least two tubes light up and the backlight for the nonexistant dial meter lights up. Radio will come on and make a loud buzzing sound, but cannot get a station to come in. Case has one fine crack that appears tight. We have shown a pic of this. MAJESTIC “CHARLIE McCARTHY” RADIO. This is the Model 1 version of this desirable radio. Most collectors enjoy having one of these. In their collection because of its popularity and history. This one has been carefully refinished. The model number/chassis label is a reproduction. Recapped including electrolytics, original dial cover, and new white AC cord. The back is a reproduction and lined inside with reflective material – - This radio generates a. And in my opinion should not be played extensively or the paint could be damaged -but- hey! It’s your radio. It had a crack in the upper right side which, as seen, has been repaired. “Charlie” received a new tuxedo and now looks quite dapper. The composite outdoor photo shows the radio with no photo manipulation(s). Tubes: 6A8, 6k7, 6Q7, 25L6, 25Z6 and an BK49B ballast. It is approximately 8″ W X 6″H X 6-1/4 deep and weighs about 9 lbs. Thanks for checking out my listing. Please review all photos and the description carefully, and take note of the additional information on the right side of the listing. This radio measures approximately 14″ tall x 9 1/2″ wide x 6 1/2 deep. It weighs about 9 1/2 lbs. The radio is decent cosmetic condition. The finish has dulled. There is a chip in the veneer in the lower right of the face. The face of the radio is separating from the sides and back (there is a small gap at the top). The bolt from the bottom of the radio is missing. The 2 knobs are wood. The cord is insulated with cloth, which is deteriorating. All tubes are present but untested. I did plug the radio in. I got a hum when it turned on. It quickly faded to silence. Please review the photos for further details. The first option listed may not be the least expensive. Additional photo(s) below. Near Mint, Working 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy Radio Exceptional Throughout

Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you’ve looked at this one. I’m listing an eclectic assortment of museum quality antiques and collectibles this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everybody. Here’s an exceptionally nice 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy radio. This is the less common brown version, and its condition is excellent to near mint throughout. Charlie is complete (including the monocle and chain), with vibrantly colored enamel and no damage or paint deterioration. The case is pristine — probably the nicest CM case I’ve ever seen. In the back, below the lower left screw hole, there’s small chip (hidden by the back cover), but the other screw holes are perfect (very unusual for this radio), and the case itself is almost like new, with no cracks, no gouges, no scars, and a beautifully formed grill whose slats are straight and undamaged. The chassis is likewise clean — with minimal oxidation and the original paper label still intact — and the radio still works. Has modest performance consistent with other low tube-count 30′s mantle radios, but when warmed up, the radio will tune most high-powered local stations and play them good volume. The line cord has been replaced, but the antenna line is original and in good shape. Overall, a really super example of an eminently collectible antique radio. And if you’re looking for a companion to perch beside it, check out the Effanbee Charlie McCarthy doll I’m listing separately this week. It’s the rare 1st version with “Eddie Bergen” printed on the box instead of Edgar Bergen, and like the radio you see in this listing, the doll’s condition is close to mint. The two have been shelf-mates for decades, and it would be nice if they could stay together a bit longer. That’s about it. Rest assured it will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. Complete with only one almost indiscernable hairline top back cover where attaches to back of radio cabinet otherwise mint. Chassis complete but will need servicing to get back to running again. All tubes checked and are good and chassis not hacked up. Clock spins and appears ok but no power to radio prohibits testing. Minor flaking of clock silvering as noted. Red wire in antennae. I will offer the best in collecting. Watch every week for great featured items. Celluloid radio horn speaker. Marbled speakers like this very rarly show up for sale. This marbled horn speaker is about 20 inches tall , and about 12 inches wide. This speaker is beautiful , and a sight to behold. This is a very rare speaker. The condition of the speaker is very nice , but does have a very tiny and almost impossible to see crack (as seen in the last photo) not bad at all. The speaker is untested , the cord is worn. So dont let this incredible radio horn speaker slip by , they do not come up for sale often. I have supersized the pictures so you can see everything. Vintage Art Deco MAJESTIC Tube Radio Receiver Model 49-B 440 Chasis Original NR

This radio was made in early 1934, by the grigsby-grunow corp. This is a four tube superheterodyne, shortwave/broadcast radio. The chassis 440 employs a superheterodyne circuit utilizing four tubes including a rectifier. Tube line-up is 6a7-s (mixer/lo), 6f7-s triode/pentode (if amp/2nd detector), 41 af power. It is ac powered with the power transformer mounted below the chassis. Band selection is accomplished using the small rotary knob at the rear of the chassis. The speaker is model g-26-f. The cabinet measures 8 1/4″ x 5 9/16″ x 11 1/2 and has some damage i tried to photograph. One back bottom area has the most veneer loss with only minimal spots here and there elsewhere. Both fancy screws in place. Brushed aluminum grille and. There are no holes in the mesh behind the grill but there is one area bottom right that is slightly dented. While the fabric cord is fraying a bit, it still seemed safe enough to plug in and i did so. The tubes did light up and there was a humming sound. Didn’t leave it in more than 10 seconds.
