Case is scuffed and scraped; could use some cleaning inside and out; antenna and cable are present; tuning dial works; powers up and makes noise but I didn’t get a channel to tune in, although can hear changes in sound output as the tuning dial is turned (also, not certain I’ve got the antenna connected correctly); very loud static. This is wonderful art deco style Zenith case portable radio with plug and original battery that was part of a collection that we acquired. It has the waveguide antenna and the external cable with suction mounting cup. The original Instruction folder is are safely stored in the back, but shows a bit of heat damage. When we put a powered up the radio with the cord, we could hear static as the volume was adjusted but we couldn’t get the tuning needle to work. When I opened the back, I could manipulate the knob and feel some play so I assume the cord that connects the knob shaft to the tuner may be worn. I didn’t play with it much further. It may just be the radio reception isn’t good here, but it might be a bigger issue, so it’s a project radio. It also needs a cord replacement as there are bare wires. There is a minor wear on the original case, but the remainder is in good shape This radio measures 15″ x 6″ x 10. Here we have a. 1941 1942 Zenith Long Distance tube radio with wave magnet. Model 6G601M This has the brown airplane fabric. This radio does power on. We were not able to get stations. Appears to be complete. Here is some information we found on this model at radio museum. United States of America (USA). Broadcast Receiver – or past WW2 Tuner. Number of Tubes 6. Superhet with RF-stage; ZF/IF 455 kHz. Power type and voltage. Line / Batteries (any type) / Either AC: 117V or DC: 117V or Batteries: 9 & 90 Volt. Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) / Ø 5.25 inch = 13.3 cm. 0.36 W (unknown quality). Leather / canvas / plastic – over other material. Model: 6G601M Universal Portable Radio Ch= 6B03 – Zenith Radio Corp. 15 x 9.8 x 7 inch / 381 x 249 x 178 mm. The Zenith 6G601M is an AC/DC/Battery operated portable 6 tube BC band receiver. The BC band frequency tuning range is 540 to 1620kHz. Cabinet is wood covered with brown cotton fabric, Bud long design. Power consumption 20 W. The following models use the same chassis and schematic but have different cabinets. Blue and Gray Airplane Fabric. Genuine Top Grade Cowhide. Brown and Ivory Airplane Fabric.
