This offering is for a german tube radio. Model 1957 – 59. In model year 1957/59 saba brought the konstanz 8 automatic in the market. For the first time with the new, simplified engine electronics circuit for tuning. With a price of 499.00 dm it was the cheapest automatic radio in this series. In germany, the average monthly income was dm 240.00. High-quality reception characteristics, a powerful amplifier and four outstanding speaker mounted in a nice furniture, what more do you want? The surface of the radio has grown and natural patina, with only a few signs of use. The extremely well-maintained housing does not recognize its age. It is almost sixty years old. Looking at the pictures you can see reflections from the room. There are items that are reflected on the surface of the housing. The saba constance 8 automatic is a real gem. It was handled very carefully. Through the careful technical and optical restoration, it gives an authentic impression of radio technology that time. For the technically interested readers some details. Tubes: ec92, ec92, ech81, ef85, em84, eabc80, el84, eaa91, ecl80. Power: ac 110 – 220volt. Loudspeaker: 4 saba green-cone loudspeakers. Dimensions: 24.2 x 15.4 x 11.2 inch, (615 x 390 x 285 mm). Net weight: 33 lb 14.7oz (15,4kg). While this radio is attractive and certainly is an eye-catcher, it’s real strength is the chassis. Clean chassis, and in amazing performer. I restored the chassis as well as the housing very carefully. The seven tube chassis has been cleaned and lubed carefully before restoring. Tar and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced. All have been carefully restored. Only if the radio meets my quality standards, and these are very high, then i offer it. Although great attention it is possible that the radio fails. After all, it is nearly siexty years old. But even in this case a solution is possible. Attached are the service manuals and schematics. The fm provides the amazing thrilling sound these radio are known for. Nevertheless, for serious listening, an external antenna will provide amazing radioreception. Please note this is a europaen model, fm works up to 100mhz (almost up to 103mhz). The stereo playback is provided only for record players, tape recorders or similar devices. A few words about me. I’m radio and television master of the “old school”. My training in the craft began in 1967 as the tube technology was at its peak. Over time i have repaired several thousand devices expertly. The dial glass is beautiful, cleaned and polished. And did very much more necessary work. Original speakers all in place and sound great. The sound can be controlled by potentiometres and a button sprache(speech). Shines the brass, but i get his old patina. The furniture was cleaned and polished. Please note some pictures reflect furnishings. The finish is original, certainly has the crazing in the finish that is so common to these radios, but it is still shiny and attractive. The lower original panel is also in place. Please look to the pictures carefully. Because of the time of use it has some scratches. But even these traces of use the radio shows make it a beautiful antique. No apologies for this performance. This beauty radio with it’s lovely furniture, dial glass and speaker grille must not be damaged. I will package this radio personally to make sure it is done correctly.
