Vintage CRC King No. 17233 Cathedral Style Wood Table Radio. Measures approximately 13″ tall x 10″ wide x 8 1/4 deep. 100 to 125 Volts; 70 Watts; 60 Cycles. This is vintage and pre-owned; Estate found. There is wear/tear and weathering/discoloration throughout that is consistent with its near antique age. Some slight tearing in the speaker mesh. Scattered marks/abrasions in the wood, including a crack in the speaker and some splitting in the veneer (pictured). All of the examples of a King Model E radio that I have seen show it with a normal/hinged lid. Regardless, even if it was altered later, it looks awesome! I do not have the proper equipment to test this set. He wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks VERY nice. The lid opens and closes as it should and it lays flat when closed. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. All of the various dials seem to be working as they should be, although the antenna dial does need some minor adjustment. The chassis rests inside the cabinet. It is not currently screwed in. There is a loose Kelford 62-A interstage amplifying transformer that is wired in as well. I will secure that as I pack it up. Once you place the chassis in the cabinet, there is a wood strip that is placed in grooves on either side of the base/sides. That strip is then secured to the base with 2 screws which are also missing. The horn driver has broken off of the base of the horn speaker. It is pictured and marked Made in Germany. There are 3 small fragmented metal pieces that look like they may belong close to where the driver broke away from the speaker. Those will be included as well. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. The radio dimensions are as follows. Overall radio is 22 1/4″ wide by 11 5/8″ deep and 16 tall. Lid w/ speaker is 21 1/2″ wide by 11″ deep and 7 tall. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. This snare drum is a cut-down modification of a 15-inch Slingerland parade drum from the 40s. 3-ply shell, the same ply configuration used on Radio King toms and bass drums but with smaller rerings. Parts are various brands. Throwoff: 60s Slingerland Rapid. Rims: chrome over brass 50s WFL or Ludwig. Lugs: modern, with vintage mounting screws. Tension rods: 60s MIJ, unknown brand. Last photo shows the shell under construction. It has numerous extra holes plugged from its original hardware, but the snare beds and bottom bearing edge are original. Top bearing edge is a copy of the bottom one. Painted in a two-tone scheme to imitate an old Duco finish, and finished with 8 coats of lacquer. Shell is in round and fits modern heads well. The lugs are shimmed with thin washers to prevent tension rod splay. The drum has tremendous body and a wide tuning range. The brass rims give it a lot of sustain. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Percussion\Drums\Snare Drums”. The seller is “nakedvintageseattle” and is located in Seattle, Washington. This item can be shipped worldwide.
