We offer Quality Antique Radios. To view our other antique radio auctions, as well as antique radio grill cloth. Here we have a seldom seen 1936 Kadette model 86 table radio. Manufactured by International Radio Corp. Out of Ann Arbor, MI. The dark walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The protruding wood grill louvers, coupled with the rounded side design, makes for a unique, yet elegant look. Grooved pinstripe inlays flow across the front and sides of the cabinet and jet black trim finishes the set off with class and style. This rare beauty is sure to be the main topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. The backlit black dial is illuminated by a new dial lamp and lights nice and bright. It features a black background with white numbers which have a nice ivory glow when powered up. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show virtually no signs of wear. All three bullet style knobs are perfect and work as follows; tuning, on/off & volume, and band switch. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring an antique gold color with a herringbone design. All tubes in the 6 chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 13W x 9 3/4H x 6D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing peanuts surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package. Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, and amount of interference in different areas. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings, and hooked up to a 12 copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, and interference. But nothing that stands out or diminishes the overall look of the radio. The grille cloth looks original and is in good condition. Wonderful opportunity to own a functional piece of rare history. The Kadette Radio Story. The Kadette radio brand was founded in the 1920s by an entrepreneur named Charles Verschoor. He started to make radios in Ann Arbor, Michigan with only a limited degree of success initially. Not until 1931, when he started the International Radio Corp did the tide started to turn for Verschoor. The first of these successes was a very small Kadette brand AC/DC radio made of Bakelite. This set marked the beginning of Bakelite radios and of transformer less AC/DC sets. Chicago Molded Products Co. Made the cabinet for Kadette, and the Gothic look gave it a unique design which helped to put the company on the map. Several other popular radios followed in the 1930s and by 1936 Kadette developed the model 35 Telematic with the unique telephone style dial design. Keene Jackson, the General Sales Manager of International Radio Corp bought the radio manufacturing business including the brand Kadette. This new company, called “The Kadette Radio Corp” planned to introduce TV sets. The new company had little success with radios as other makers such as Zenith, RCA, Westinghouse, and GE radio brands began to expand their share of the market. International Radio Corp later had success with cameras and optical equipment with the Argus brand. After World War 2, International Industries became a wholly owned subsidiary of Argus, Inc. And the name International Radio (and Kadette) was gone forever. Its amazing to think that this very radio likely broadcast such historical 1936 events as the. Which further fueled the drum beats of war in Europe. The invention of the first helicopter. Detroit Red Wings defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3 to 1 to win the Stanley cup! And in movie news. Mutiny on the Bounty won the Oscar. Dimension: 11″ in length X 9″ high X 6 in depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully. The radio is fully insured. If there are any problems, please contact me and we can review options. DETROIT WAS A BOOMTOWN DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE RADIOS POPULARITY (1930s 1950s) SO THIS LOCATION IS HOME TO MANY RARE AND HARD TO FIND VINTAGE RADIOS – PLEASE STAY TUNED AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST! Vintage Red Catalin Radio Kadette Clockette 1935 Great Color No Cracks No Tubes

The case is in very good to excellent condition, with one small crack on the rear bottom, an inch or so long running from the screw hole to the back edge. There is one small chip on the back left side, at the bottom, very minor and not visible when the radio is viewed from the front. I know collectors like to hard polish these to a mirror finish, but I have done nothing aside from a soft cloth. There are no tubes, and it doesn’t appear they have been there in many years. This could be a blessing, since with many older tube radios, they run hotter and hotter over the years, and that is why many are scorched from the inside, or cracked. All the wiring etc. Is intact and original. The knobs are original, as well as the yellow bakelite inserts in the front and the small red bakelite knob in the back.. The name label is also intact. My guess is if the tubes are replaced the radio will work fine. It measures 8 x 8 x 6 and weighs about 7 lbs. Also, the year of the radio is 1937, not 1935 as I originally wrote it.. The item “Vintage Red Catalin Radio Kadette Clockette 1935 Great Color No Cracks No Tubes” is in sale since Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
