Beautiful MINT All Original. Mid-century modern Zenith T2542 tube radio from 1963, T. He wood cabinet on this model is original and nearly flawless as close to museum quality as you can get which is not often found on the T2542 / K731! This one has been well cared for! It sounds exceptional and it gets great selectivity and reception. Was one of the last high-end wooden cabinet tube radios produced by Zenith before switching to plastic. With this model, Zenith had nearly reached the pinnacle of performance for a mass-produced tube radio only the 845 series arguably took that prize but the 700 series were close and sound absolutely phenomenal. The handwriting was already on the wall for tube audio, and the economics of high-volume, injection-molded plastic cabinetry had all-but-rendered the solid wood cabinet financially impractical for mass-produced radios. The T2542 / K731 came in two cabinet styles, the more modern Danish style with legs (Like this model) and the Early-American style that has a protruding carved wood base. Both with walnut or maple veneer cabinet and solid walnut or maple wood trim. This particular example was made for the Canadian market. This radio is in great shape cosmetically with no chips or deep scratches and no cracks. This model is definitely sought after by Zenith Collectors and we can see why! As Zenith said in their ads. The quality goes in, before the name goes on. And the condition of this Zenith is a testament to that legacy. The overall appearance of the radio is beautiful. The original back is in good condition and is tightly fastened. The original Zenith factory sticker is still on the bottom. A great opportunity for a collector to own a functioning piece of art! They do not come up for sale to often in this kind of cosmetic or working condition! Dimension: 14″ in length X 9″ high X 8 in depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully.
