If you’re an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don’t think you’ll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere — hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping “gee whiz” gadgetry in exceptional original condition. Condition of the radio is very good, and as you can see in the video I’ve posted, it still works and comes with a good 1 amp, gray glass CG Navy tube. Panel is deep black with minimal wear, and the nickel plated panel hardware is clean, correct and original. Both tuning knobs turn easily, as does the rheostat control and the tuning coil’s tap switch. Chassis is original, with no mods. In the panel’s lower right quadrant, there are two very fine hairlines that appear to have been stress-induced but do not compromise the panel’s structural integrity. They may have been present since the radio was new; it’s impossible to know at this point. They’re barely visible, even when you’re looking for them, but if you enlarge the panel photos, you should be able to see their extent. They look like faint scratches, and adjacent to the one near the lower right screw is a small chip. In the video above, the radio is connected to a Brown mechanical amplifier and a vintage horn speaker. Only the radio and headphones are included.
Vintage Zenith Model 8-S-154 radio chassis, that is perfect for a restoration project. The sound is strong and crisp. Chassis is very clean and free of rust and corrosion. The dial mechanism is not working, as the rubber pulley is missing. The dial glass is in great condition, but detached from the dial itself. It will be wrapped and placed in a separate box, within the main package. Power cord is spliced and should be replaced. Four chassis bolts- 2 original are included. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.
