PLEASE READ FURTHER DOWN ABOUT THIS VERY NICE LOOKING RADIO. The model number on this Amazing looking radio is 578 & was produced in the Late 1930′s era. This was a fairly popular radio when it was introduced & is still a fairly popular & desirable radio by today’s standards. THIS VINTAGE NICE LOOKING CORONADO RADIO THAT JUST LOOKS WONDERFUL & IT WORKS. The Wood cabinet on this Beauty has it’s Original Finish & looks Good (Not perfect by any means) as there are some scratches & nicks etc.. FOR A RADIO THAT IS 88YRS OLD & IN IT’S ORIGINAL FINISH IT LOOKS PRETTY DARN GOOD:>. This radio has been cleaned & polished which still retains it’s original sheen or shine for the most part. I have taken Many Pictures so you may get a good view at this Nice looking Radio. The 3 Marbled ROSETTE Bakelite. Control knobs are original & in fantastic looking condition. The Speaker Grill cloth is a in nice condition. THE ANTENNA SYSTEM CONSIST OF A LONG. WIRE THAT MUST BE STRETCHED OUT IN (1) ONE DIRECTION OR ANOTHER UP/DOWN/RIGHT/LEFT? The chassis is in Great condition & it is a 5-tube unit with 3-controls that are in good working condition. The 3-controls are (from left to right) 1-VOLUME, 2-TUNING & 3rd-ON/OFF. The tube line up is One-6A8, One-6B7, One-42, One-6D6 & One-80. The chassis had has all New Electrolytic Capacitors replaced & paper/wax capacitors were replaced as needed & a nice electric cord was installed. This radio has been restored to good working condition. When this Nice looking CORONADO radio is powered up. PLEASE FINISHING READING THE REST OF THE DESCRIPTION. This “CORONADO” would make an Excellent addition to your radio collection or as a stand alone radio as it’s power & beauty will surely be the talk of the room by all whom enter. Sized of this Fabulous GEM is 14-1/2″ High, 11-3/4″ Long & 8 Wide/Deep. This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radio technology “unlike modern day solid state radios” can have interference/noise in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV’S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires above your home, etc… So where you position/place this radio in your home can make a huge difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are “Directional” meaning you ” MAY ” have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. Tube radio usually take 30 to 45 seconds after they have been turned/powered ON before they will start playing as the tubes have to warm up. I package very well for a safe arrival. Knock- out beautiful 1951 Majestic Bakelite radio model 5 LA 7 / 5 LA 8 with custom lacquer paint. Velvet smooth Steel Blue metallic body with Indian ivory Cream lacquer louvers, makes this radio look like a million bucks! A one of a kind art piece. We first started with a perfect bakelite cabinet. No cracks, no chips, no excuses. Then expertly painted with automotive lacquer and polished to perfection. Beautiful original reverse painted glass dial. Original rare Faceted crystal clear plastic knobs. Radio powers on but only static. Radio will need repairs to play. I see a small fine scratch on the top at the right rear. I collected only fine machine age Bakelite radio sets and always leave the electric components in original condition working or not. To me, these radios are art / architectures. This is a rare radio – not often found. Please inspect all photos and ask questions.

Made by RCA, the innovators of the era, this three band radio was cutting edge for the day. Tall and stately, it still has the original dark finish, though the chassis/electronics have been completely restored. This radio looks like the ones from the old movies and has the look and feel of those times. It has very good deep, rich sound with bass/treble control into an 8 inch speaker. With six tubes, it has great reception and selectivity using a 5 foot antenna lead (included). Each is lighted separately – green, orange and red respectively, which is a very nice touch. The tuning knob has two speed controls. The cabinet was dismantled and cleaned. It was given three coats of hand rubbed beeswax/orange oil polish to nourish and bring out the beauty of the woods. The dial face graphics are in excellent condition with crisp graphics and very well lit by two bulbs independent of the three for the channel indicator lights. The dial cover and escutcheon are original, as are the grill cloth and knobs. The power cord is new. It does have a few stress cracks and distressed areas on the top. I decided to leave them as reminders of its 82 years, as attempts to repair them would detract from the originality of the otherwise very good condition of the cabinet. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using 5 foot wire lead antenna. Now it is restored and can be enjoyed for many years to come if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good working order. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. This pre WWII table radio is a somewhat rare and beautiful example of Philco’s answer to the very popular Ingraham cabinets used on other radio manufacturers radios. And, the cabinet has the original finish, which is in wonderful condition at 78 years old! Compact and stylish, it has wonderful soft lines and warm wood blends of veneers and solids. Notable is the matched walnut veneer curved top and the carved wooden back that features a music clef. The cabinet was disassembled and cleaned, then given two hand rubbed coats of a bees wax/orange oil treatment to nourish the wood and bring out the beauty. The dial face and pointer are in mint condition with crisp and clear graphics, softly lit by the pilot light. The grill cloth, dial cover and Bakelite knobs are original and in excellent condition. The power cord has been replaced, using the original Bakelite plug. There is a very minor crack in the wood just above the volume control, and a slight discoloration to the right side of the cabinet. In my opinion, neither of these needed addressed, as they do not detract from the originality and history of the radio. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This very charming and graceful radio is a welcome departure from many of Philco’s other “PT” models. It is fine for displaying and listening and, since being restored will last for many years to come if well cared for. On the right are the controls with visual display. Neatly placed within the traditionally stylized Mahogany Cabinet. Good Condition Some Use Related Wear – The record player turned. But the mechanism didn’t want to catch. Otherwise everything appears to work. Would benefit from a tune up. Radio signals were not strong enough to catch reception. Vintage philco model 90 super heterodyne cathedral radio/original finish. Please closely read the description, don’t just look at the pictures. Up for sale is this vintage 1931 philco model 90 cathedral radio. It looks to be in its original condition. The radio does power up with the indicator light lit but the chassis makes a sizzling noise so i quickly turn it off. No picture of the light on because i didn’t want to leave it on that long. The cord is the original cloth covered cord. The knobs are original and turn freely. As you can see from the pictures there are two screws missing that hold the chassis in the case. The speaker grill cloth is original with no holes in it. The grill cloth does show its age though. It looks and feels like the dark spot has melted to the support backing. The case seems really solid and the finish on the case is good (but not perfect) and the cabinet does have some scratches on it due to age. Note the veneer age cracks in the front top half, these are not loose, these are just character marks (examine pictures well). There is a deeper scratch on the right front foot. (see picture) i have taken “howards” to the whole radio and then waxed it. The radio measures about 18 1/2″ tall x 17 1/4″ at the base and 12 deep at the base. See how close you are to interstate 90 or 80 as that is how we’ll be traveling. Anything is possible just ask. This is too nice a radio to just double box the whole thing, wrap it in bubble wrap and away it goes. Work with me on this so it can get to you in the condition its in now. More packages more cost. Also as i noted its a heavy old radio.. This should be a treasured radio for someones collection.
