Vintage Farnsworth AM Bakelite Radio ET-064 (1946) RESTORED & EXCEPTIONAL

Vintage Farnsworth AM Bakelite Radio ET-064 (1946) RESTORED & EXCEPTIONAL

This gorgeous jet black radio is in almost perfect restored condition. The Bakelite finish is flawless and has a deep and reflective shine like when it was new. Even the bottom labels are completely intact and like new. And, it is a unique departure from most of the just-post WWII radios with its bold styling. The unusual metal speaker grill insert really draws attention. With six tubes and an internal loop antenna, it receives quite well with very good sensitivity, selectivity and sound. And of course a. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was completely disassembled and cleaned, then buffed to a wondrously smooth, shiny and lustrous finish. The glass dial face graphics are crisp, clear and well lighted. The original knobs were polished. The grill cloth is a beautiful new pattern. The back cover is in excellent condition. The power cord was replaced. The photos say the rest about how pristine this radio is and how well it displays. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This baby boomer radio is now 74 years old and looking like it did when new. And, now that it is completely restored, it sounds like it too! It will continue to bring reliable enjoyment for many more years if well cared for. It is an wonderful addition to a collection or as a gift for someone to cherish. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. Vintage Farnsworth AM/SW Radio Model ET-060 (1946) RARE & RESTORED

This high quality and colorful radio is rare in the excellent condition this one is. With a very shiny dark walnut Bakelite cabinet contrasted with a butterscotch grill and butter/caramel original knobs, it really pops with attention getting beauty. Built just after WWII ended, it speaks to new and good times in the USA. Having clean and crisp lines, it has a sleek look about it that seems to show confidence. The cabinet was cleaned and polished. There are no nicks, cracks or dings to the finish. The dial face has a unique lighted “V” style slide rule pointer. The chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes, resistors and other components were replaced as needed. The controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal antennas. This is a very good quality six tube radio with attention to detail during the design and manufacturing process. With the restoration done, it should give another 72 years of listening and visual pleasure. It is one that collectors desire, as the distinct color combination really makes it stand out among the other Bakelite radios of 1946. Dimensions: 11.5×7.5×6.5. Vintage 1940′s Farnsworth ET-064 Bakelite 6 Tube Radio (WORKS GREAT)

The radio is working great and has no chips, cracks, dings or dents and is very clear. The plastic piece at the end of the power cord is broken. The plug still plugs in and of course, the radio is working great. The channels are very clear. I do not think the radio was used very often. The cord has no rips or fraying. The light on the front screen works perfectly. The cloth on front has no rips or holes. The glass screen on front is crystal clear. Measures approx 7 1/2 inches tall, 11 1/2 inches from side to side and 5 3/4 inches from front to back. There is some glare in the photos that could not be avoided. The radio has always been stored in a room temperature environment. The item “Vintage 1940′s Farnsworth ET-064 Bakelite 6 Tube Radio (WORKS GREAT)” is in sale since Friday, August 11, 2017.
