This tube radio is a classic example of US-made radios, known for their durability and retro charm. Perfect for collectors or those who appreciate the aesthetics of classic radios, this Zenith model is a true gem. Zenith quality model k721 with 7 tested vacuum tubes. Long distance reception receiver. Has been serviced, tested, inspected and cleaned as needed. Ran unit for 6 hours after servicing and fine tuning and no issues found. Spent close to 6 hours on servicing, fine tuning, adjustments and cleaning/testing. Power supply cord was replaced as well as several tubes. The sound is pristine and mind blowing and loud. Speaker fabric replaced with a perforated metal mesh as the old fabric was unraveling. I have worked with electronics and amplifiers since the 70′s so rest assured it is a quality sounding radio. This is a vintage zenith radio in excellent condition, with very little wear at all…. Would make very nice decor item, for a Mid century theme. Unit powers on, and I was able to tune in radio stations.

It is in working condition with a very nice bass sound – likely why this radio is so heavy. The left tuning knob feels loose, but I think that could be repaired easily. Some cosmetic issues maybe old tape? On the Bakelite on the top.

Vintage 1940s ZENITH “LONG DISTANCE” TUBE RADIO No. Tested and in working condition. These radios are early postwar Zenith portables with loctal tubes and use Zenith “Wavemagnet” antennas that have several tubes, including the 1LA6 converter, a loctal version of the 1L6 (then considered more expensive). The wavemagnet in these models has an interesting art deco design on the back side. That side would be visible to the outside world if the antenna were to be used with suction cups on a window. Chassis number on this 6G001Y is 6C40, serial number T980025. The speaker is stamped with 49U512 assumed to be a date code. A schematic can be found in Rider volume 15, Zenith pages 30-31. These may be downloaded from Nostalgiaair. See the home page for the Nostalgiaair URL. It is highly recommended to test the circuitry with an ohmmeter before applying power. The set can be cleaned with white waterless hand cleaner. The cover material is relatively easy to clean. A coat of old-fashioned black carnauba wax shoe polish can help restore some of the luster. Contact cleaner can be used on the tube pins and sockets.
