It was part of an ENORMOUS radio collection. The radio still has it’s original AC power cord which is old & brittle so I did not try to power it on. The cabinet is nice and solid. I did not see any cracks, chips, etc. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. All of the dials, switches, etc. Seem to be working as they should be. I believe that this is 100% original. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I do not have the proper equipment to test this piece any further. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. If you are looking for a restored old-time tube radio that can be played as often as you like and for as long as you like, please read on. This model is extremely rare to find in thoroughly restored condition as the reverse engineering involved to dismantle and clean this particular model is rather complicated. Restored to it’s original condition, this radio is ready to bring another lifetime’s listening pleasure to it’s proud new owner. You will be satisfied with this radio set because no detail inside OR outside has been overlooked in order to deliver both “dependable performance” and appealing cabinetry. Every effort has been made to offer a practically new radio, performing as it did originally, and to be maintenance free for quite some time. The bakelite cabinet is in exceptional condition without any cracks and has been hand rubbed to restore it’s original showroom finish. Brass accent has been polished and over-lacquered to prevent future tarnishing. The radio back is a new shop fabrication. Lit up, the dial is just spectacular! Measurements are: 12″ X 6″ X 7.5high. The large 4″x6″ Speaker delivers. A thorough clean job. Check out all the photos. The electronics inside the chassis have been totally overhauled. This radio uses 6 tubes. All 6 tubes are “new old stock” and the dial light bulb is new and rated at 3000 hours. Following the restoration, all radio circuits were re-tuned to their specification using instrumentation. The end result is an old fashioned tube radio giving excellent reception across the dial, playing with warmth and depth. Thoroughly bench tested, this vintage Philco radio set is ready for it’s new home. I will double box using new cartons so that your new radio arrives undamaged in transit. Just in time for Christmas a marvelous 1937 Zenith 5-S-126 Blalck dial cube. A wonderful gift that will bring many years of listening pleasure. The cabinet : completely taken down to its perfect walnut wood/veneers and restored to perfection. Beautiful matched bookend walnut veneers. The finsih is a product of many hours of professional restoration producing a piano grade finish. The grill cloth is a close original match. It is extremely rare to find this set with its oriiginal wooden knobs present on this radio. The beautiful mult-icolored dial Lights up like Christmas. The cabinet is 12 X 13 X 10 inches. Chassis: has had a complete restoration. All tubes tested to value and replaced with new old stock. Under the chassis all capacitors / electrolitics replaced, alienged and wires replaced. All contacts cleaned and moving parts lubricated. Speaker is original and in excellent condition. The set performs with excellence using only the pigtails on the chassis. For best reception, especially on shortwave, you can use a longer length of wire. Due to the excellence/performance and the solid woods used in the cabinet, the radio produces great sound enhanced with the tone knob. Please see my feedback. There might be a mistake. I ad nothing extra.. This is for a beautiful ornate Zenith 712 art deco radio from around 1933. Its absolutely gorgeous even with the few flaws. Has some damage to the top and side(see pics). It looks like you might be able to replace the top but I don’t know enough to say that for sure. Also has a crack to the wood on the side. Its all personal opinion when you get into this kind of stuff so please look closely at the pics and decide for yourself. Beautiful wood on this radio! Mechanically I found it to be pretty good. Without an antenna I got several stations to come in loud and clear. There is a very low hum in the background. I was told this is not a transformer issue. Tuner is tight , all the tubes light up. The only thing I’ve done to this radio is wipe it down with a damp cloth. Sounded pretty good actually. Knobs are all in good shape and all move freely. I obtained this and a bunch of other same era radio’s from an estate of a long time collector. Listing the others separately. Also have 3 consoles coming. 2 zenith and 1 firestone. Measures : 14″ wide x 15″ high x 7 1/4 deep. Weighs 18 1/2 lbs w/o packaging. Obtained most of these from worthpoint and rick’s radio attic. 14 , 250.00 , 14 , 608.00 , 17 , 395.00 , 10 , 799.99 , 2008 799.00. Probably about 300 to 400 pieces of vintage electronics. Other radio’s I’ll be listing : Philco big bullet model 611. Zenith cube model 5-R-216 A RARE 216a. Lots of 216′s couldn’t find any 216a’s. I generally have a variety of older electronics listed. I like to pack some of my electronics using hard packing/insulation styrofoam. It sometimes results in little foam balls in the box and on the item. Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Please note that I sell mostly used vintage items that might have wear consistent with their age. Item MAY have come from a home where someone smokes. This is a very unique radio from the 1920′s that is very-very clean and has always been stored in a room temperature environment. There are no dings, dents or rust on the radio. There is a crack on the removable panel on the back. Measures approx 10 3/4 inches tall, 15 inches from side to side and 12 3/4 inches from front to back. I do not know how to test this radio as I believe it runs on some type of battery/ballast. There is a cord located on the back area that is frayed. Comes with the original manual. Comes from a smoke free and pet free environment. Again, this radio is very clean and a real beauty! There is some glare in the photos that could not be avoided. 2 of the knobs have chips. Not sure if the push buttons work? Im not to good at testing the radio’s that have special features. Probably needs an antenna to get broadband stations. Scratches to top and sides and bottom front. 12 3/4″ W by 7″ Deep X 9 tall. This radio has the oval “racetrack” dial and is highly sought after. The functions of the 4 round knobs from left to right are On/Off/Volume, Tone (2 positions), Tuning, and Function. The radio has 5 pushbuttons on the lower part of the brass escutcheon. The Function knob on the far right selects either Shortwave, Standard Broadcast, or Automatic that activates the station presets.
