Old Antique Wood Zenith Black Dial Vintage Tube Radio Restored Working Table Top

To view our other auctions including additional restored antique radios, grill cloth, and supplies. A quality antique radio makes a great Christmas gift! Here we have Zenith’s top of the line table radio offered in 1939. Cabinet: The American Walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set. A large, protruding solid wood wrap around grill provides an extreme Art Deco look so famous from that era. It all comes together magnificently with the slide rule black dial, tuning pushbuttons, tone controls and surrounding brass escutcheon. This highly collectible beauty is sure to be the main attraction no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. Dial: The brightly lit slide rule black dial is a real eye catcher. All letters and numbers indicating station frequencies are legible and show virtually no signs of wear. Foreign country names are displayed on the bottom of the dial for shortwave reference. The gold escutcheon adds an elegant touch and the dial glass is clear with no chips or breaks. This set features automatic tuning, the five pushbuttons located at the bottom of the dial, as well as bass and treble controls on either side. All automatic pushbuttons are functional but it is recommended that you use the manual tuning knob due to the age and delicacy of the auto tuning mechanism. If using the automatic feature, stations must be set by new owner or professional for their location. The treble and bass controls provide a subtle change in high / low tone. All new knobs are in perfect shape and control on/off & volume, band switch and tuning (located behind the band switch). Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a classic black & gold color with a leaf / wave design. Chassis: All tubes in the powerful 8 tube copper chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using just the loop antenna the radio performs exceptionally well. The radio provides great tone and plenty of volume. Additional copper line antenna will be included for even stronger reception, especially on the shortwave at night. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 17″ W x 9 H x 10 1/2″ D. I sell quality antique radios and describe them accurately, as can be confirmed with my outstanding feedback. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers of bubble wrap, and several inches of packing material surrounding each side of the radio so you can be assured they arrive safely. If your radio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk you through the process of troubleshooting to get it started. The tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, if there is. If that is the case with your country, you assume the risk of any damage or undelivered package. Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, and amount of interference in different areas. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings, and hooked up to a 12 copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, and interference.
