VINTAGE DEWALD MODEL A-502 BAKELITE RADIO. IT COMES IN THE ORIGINAL BUTTERSCOTCH FINISHED CASE AND IN NICE PHYSICAL CONDITION SHOWING MINOR WEAR FOR AGE. No breaks, no chips, no damage. When turned on, Needs to warm up a few seconds, but then seems to work great. It lights up when turned on. See photos of cord and plug for condition. IT WOULD MAKE A NICE ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION. There is a CRACK in the lower right hand corner on the front of the radio. I initially missed seeing it. NEW NOTE : I have also been informed that the top of this radio seems to be warped. The cabinet has been polished with my 4 step process that brings out the original factory finish. The deep marbled Bakelite cabinet and gold grill give it an outstanding look. Check out the photos! FM uses the power cord and also has terminals on the back for an extra FM antenna. I have 3 local stations that come in loud and strong. FM reception is limited to about 20 miles without an external antenna, so I will include an FM dipole antenna with this radio. Thoroughly bench tested for a minimum of ten days, this unique radio is ready for you to use and enjoy. Since it is fully restored you will want to listen to it every day! I went through the chassis and replaced all of the electrolytic (filter) capacitors, the major cause of hum. I then replaced all of the wax/paper capacitors. The resistors were then checked and any more than 20% of their original value were replaced. A new dial light was also installed. All of the tubes were tested. Using my Precision 612 tube tester. The volume control, tone control switch, band switch and tuning capacitor were lubed so they now operate smoothly and quietly. I also replaced the power cord with a polarized cord for your safety. I then carefully cleaned and polished the chassis to a pleasing luster. He intermediate and radio frequency circuits were aligned to their peak utilizing my HP 8601A RF sweep generator and my Leader LS8050 oscilloscope. This will be a great addition to anyone’s collection. If you are in Canada, please wait for my invoice with the correct cost. I will pack it well so that it will arrive undamaged. Dimensions are: 12 x 7 x 8 inch. I TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN EVERY RADIO THAT I RESTORE. Farm fresh from a local sale is this 1938 dewald a501 catalin tube radio in the harp / lyre style. I’ve done nothing at all to it, didn’t even dust it off.. Needs a thorough cleaning and polishing. Missing the curved glass dial cover. The case is free of cracks or damage and should clean up nicely. Looking closely at my pictures you may see what looks like a crack on the right right front face just below where the glass dial cover was, it was just a hair and i wiped it off after the pictures were taken. The power cord is in very bad shape so no way to test it. I did take a peek inside and everything appears untouched but very, very dusty. It has the original pinwheel knobs. A very desirable radio to the right person who is into restoring these antique marvels. The item “Vintage Art Deco DeWald Model A501 Catalin tube radio harp lyre” is in sale since Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Just restored is a stunning 1936-1938 dewald tube radio model 633. This little guy measures 13″ long x 8.5 ” tall x 6.5 deep. The perfect size to display almost anywhere in the home or office. The cabinet is not perfect considering its age but it is in excellent condition. Please review the photo’s for a good description of its present condition. The bullet knobs and bezel have been polished, resealed, and a new dial cover has been added. The dial face is excellent. There is a new grill cloth, new dial lamp, and felt pads on the bottom of the cabinet. The filter and wax capacitors have been replaced with new ones. I have tested all of the tubes, resistors, remaining components and replaced any that were weak. The ac power cord is in very good condition and is safe to operate. There are 5 tubes with one ballast tube. I believe this radio to be somewhat rare because i have never seen another during all my years of working on them. So with that said, don’t let it slip by you ! The radio receives and plays very well with no issues. Thank you for stopping by !The item “Vintage ols wood antique table top tube radio DeWald model 633″ is in sale since Sunday, March 08, 2015.
