Rare Vintage Detrola model 106, just in from radio collectors estate. Has a great Art Deco look, and a beautiful dial area. Few chips on wood, see pictures, also two drilled holes on rear left and there is a split on right of the holes. I took back off to show insides, looks very complete to me, see pictures. Not sure why he drilled two holes, they seem to go to nowhere. I do not see a model number on unit. But did a web search and sure seems to be a model 106. Feel free to double check me. I also asked a radio group and they said 106. Overall very nice, as you can see. Again needs tune up, has good cord, the cord plug says “The Handy Plug” on it. Good back, and overall a great Art Deco look. Final sale, as found. Please see all pictures and use zoom feature. Often the pictures describe the item better than words. I try my very best and list a lot of pictures, but are not posted as a “try it and see if it fits and send back ” type item. Please know if this is the item that works for you before you order. CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand crafted walnut colored wood. The finish is factory original with dings and finish checking throughout. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. There are no major scratches or abrasions. Clear tuning glass window is not cracked, no chips, yellowed with age, securely attached. Original grill fabric is not ripped, some water stains, not separated along edges. LOGO: No missing logos. Detrola front decal is not flaking off. KNOBS: The original tuning knobs are all matching in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots. Tuning back panel is a rare unusual metallic painted red burgundy color. DIAL LIGHT: not tested due to age of cord. BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is secured and attached to. POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are not tested in old condition with cracks & splits. FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels. COLOR: brown, walnut color wood. DIMENSIONS: Approximately 13″ x 8″ x 7.5 (l x w x h). WEIGHT: 7 lbs 8 oz. Country of manufacture: USA. When I plugged in and turn left knob, it turns on. I hear humming and screeching noise like a siren when I push any of the six wood buttons. The right knob turns, but DOES NOT MOVE THE NEEDLE ON THE RADIO. Cannot read the complete model number on back. Refer to photos on back and use your own judgment. Has scratches on the wood throughout. Missing one screw in the bottom, as seen in photos. 10 1/2 long x 8 3/4 high (bottom to top of wood handle) x 6 deep.

The model number is on this radio is100 Serial Number of B -192828. This was an fairly popular radio when it was introduced in 1930′s & still is by today’s standards. You do not see a lot of these radios for sale & especially in this nice of condition. The Wood cabinet on this beauty is in Stunning looking condition to say the least. The grain in the wood is Very Pleasing to the eyes. This cabinet has been cleaned & re-polished which sill retains it’s original sheen or shine. I have taken many pictures of this nice looking & all pictures can be supersized so you may get a good view at this Nice looking & Good working radio. The large round glass dial scale Lens cover is Clean & Clear with No Cracks. The 3 brown Wood control knobs. Control knobs are original & in good looking & working condition. The Solid Wood back panel is in Great condition. There is a long Black antenna wire attached & must be stretch for reception. This Long Black wire must be stretched out in One Direction or another UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT to Receive the best Signal Reception. The chassis is in good condition & it is a 6-tube unit with 3-controls & all 3 controls have been lubricated & are in good working condition. The tube line up is 1-6A7, 1-6C6, 1-6D6, 1-75, 1-25Z5 & 1-43. The chassis has had all new electrolytic capacitor/filters installed & all wax/paper capacitors were replaced. The cloth electric cord is in good condition. This radio has been restored to Good working condition. I BELIEVE THE ELECTRIC CORD IS A LINE RESISTANCE ELECTRIC CORD THAT GETS FAIRLY WARM TO HOT WHEN USING THIS RADIO. THIS LINE RESISTANCE CORD BACK IN THE DAY WAS CALLED/NICKED NAMED THE (CURTAIN BURNER) AS IT MAY HAVE CAUSED CURTAIN FIRES. The Amateur (Police) Band on this radio is OBSOLETE but it will picks up a few faint stations better in the evening hours. This Detrola would make an Excellent addition to your radio collection or as a stand alone radio as it’s power & beauty will surely be the talk of the room by all whom enter. Sized of this Fabulous Gem is 14″ Long, 7-1/2″ Wide/Deep & 10 High & 15 pounds Unpackaged. This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radio technology “unlike modern day solid state radios” can have interference/noise in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV’S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires above your home, etc… So where you position/place this radio in your home can make a huge difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are directional meaning you “may” have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. Tube radio usually take 30 to 45 seconds after they have been turned/powered ON before they will start playing as the tubes have to warm up. I package very well for a safe arrival.
