This beautiful pre WWII radio has great styling, gorgeous front veneer and a distinctive oval metal bezel. Using various veneers and solid woods, it is very well made with quality craftsmanship and design. It not only looks charming, it sounds good too. With six tubes, it has very good sensitivity, selectivity and reception. It also has tone control for your listening preference. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was stripped of the old varnish and lacquer, keeping the original stain. It was then nourished and rejuvenated and the top and bottom trim were redone with brown mahogany toners. The entire cabinet was then given seven coats of clear lacquer with excellent results. There is some veneer edges missing from the top as can be seen in the photos. There is also a very small chip in the right upper front veneer. None of those detract from the overall appearance of the radio. The multicolored dial face is in excellent condition with crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted and there is an indicator that shows which band is selected. The original dial cover has been polished and is in very good condition. The bezel is in excellent original condition. He knobs are replacements that perfectly match the trim toners and have been polished. The grill cloth has replaced. The power cord was replaced. Felt pads were added to the bottom to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The now unused original electrolytic capacitors remain in place to maintain the original look of the chassis. The original Jensen speaker is in excellent condition and sounds great. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the nine foot external antenna (provided). This is a fairly rare radio with a very appealing presence and it. Certainly demands a place of distinction. Just imagine all of the news of the world, music and stories this wonderful radio has broadcast. Now 84 years old and newly restored inside and out, it will continue to provide many more years of enjoyment if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
