You can also use the included 3.5mm cable for your IPod. Very rare 1946 Hippo radio with a reproduction back and tube decal. Cabinet is in good condition with no cracks or splits. No cracks on top. This radio is 71 years old! The knobs are in excellent condition. The dial face is clear no stress cracks. Please see the photo close-up. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine and have been tested with a tube tester and replaced as needed. The dial light works and has a new bulb. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and wattage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern electrical devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord has been replaced with a modern cord with a molded polarized plug. Speaker is in original good condition with no tears or other damage. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connections. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment. OPERATION: These old tube radios are better sounding than solid state audio devices, in my opinion. Nothing beats high voltages and heat in generating a warm organic sound that seems to fill the room. By comparison, solid state or digital seems to just approximate this effect. It’s for this reason that the highest quality audio equipment and amplifiers used by musicians today are still based heavily on vacuum tubes. Not surprisingly, rewards come with risks. Old vacuum tube technology until the sixties operate at high voltage and high heat compared to solid state electronics prevalent from sixties onward. Furthermore, these old designs are’hot-grounded’ to the AC line as opposed to the third prong “cold” ground. Vacuum tubes are an obsolete technology and very few manufacturers are still making them today. Contrary to widespread belief, they are not prone to failure. Very rarely will you ever need to change a tube because it has blown out or because it has shaken too hard. Most of these old radios still have the original tubes that came with the radio when it left the factory and they still work fine. Most of the radios made in the forties were wired point-to-point which meant inconsistencies during manufacture. Never put your hands inside one of these old radios when it’s turned on or plugged in. Never leave these radios turned on for an extended period of time unattended. Do not operate these devices on a metal table. Do not operate these radios on a wet surface. If the surface underneath one of these radios gets wet, pull out the plug before turning it off and dry everything off before attempting to turn it back on. For best performance, do not operate this radio near a modern electronic device; computer, microwave, home security, fluorescent light, etc. You will hear a constant humming or whining. All vacuum tubes take some time to warm up, no more than 30 sec to a minute at the most. The radio listed in this listing is restored only, not refurbished. With the right care and proper use, it should provide a another! Great for décor, a conversation piece, etc. They getting more collectible and increasing in value too. Besides, everyone already has an fancy stereo, iPod or MP3 player! Please see the tube diagram on the bottom of the radio and the instructions on how to re-install. ABOUT ME: I’m a veteran with 7 years experience installing, repairing and troubleshooting radio equipment for the U. I also have 20 plus years troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment, using various test equipment like volt meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc. Besides restoring old antique radios, I repair and restore pinball machines and old clocks. VINTAGE DECO 1940′S JETCO MODEL PI-12 COIN-OP RADIO TABLE COOL

VINTAGE DECO 1940'S JETCO MODEL PI-12 COIN-OP RADIO TABLE COOL

This was made by the Jet Sales Co. Of Seattle, Washington and came with different radios and tops. I can only assume that you were allowed to choose which one would fit your decor. These were frequently used in commercial settings like hotels, etc.. On his stock tag, he listed this radio as 1940. The wood cabinet has one small flake in the veneer on the very bottom right hand corner (see photo). Other than that, it looks great. The chrome legs and trim are in very good condition showing light surface scratches and scuffs, but no dents, cracks or breaks that I can see. The black top still has a nice shine to it and it also has light surface scratches, but no chips or breaks. The plastic silk screened radio panel is in extremely nice condition. It is easily read, but has two small tight cracks in it at the middle screw holes, top and bottom. They are hard to see in the photo that I took, but they are there. On the bottom left hand corner is a little flake in the silk screen on the panel (see photo). The knobs on the radio and clock are excellent and turn freely. The metal escutcheon around the clock has some small chips in its finish. The clock face, dial hands and pointer are in excellent condition and move properly. The glass clock cover is unbroken. The aluminum coin slot plate also shows normal signs of age and wear: light surface scratches, scuffs, etc… But no cracks or dents. The top reads: Model PI-12 and One Hour for 10 cents. The mechanism itself is on the back and is in very good condition. It has a couple of small chips in the paint that are down to the metal and is missing the locking mechanism. There is a metal identification tag on the box that states: METER-MATIC TYPE M-22. There is an aluminum identification tag for the radio on the back as well that states that it is a JETCO PI-12 Jet Sales Co. Someone must have over ridden the coin op mechanism as it will work like a normal radio with the knobs up front. The cone of the speaker, from what I can see of it without physically tearing this apart, has no holes, tears or rips. The power cord appears to be original and has no cracks or bare wires showing. It is still pliable, but the plug end has two chips in it. 24″ tall, 17 1/2″ wide and 14 1/2 deep. Here is your chance to add a very nice, hard to find coin-op radio to your collection! I don’t claim to be an expert on these so PLEASE review the photos as they supercede the description. If you need more close-ups we will be happy to oblige. It will be packed with styrofoam and a heavy duty box. Thank you for your interest!
