Vintage Philco Model 60 Superheterodyne Art Deco Cathedral Radio Circa 1934. We are offering for sale this vintage Philco model 60 Superheterodyne art deco cathedral radio that dates from about 1934. It measures 17″ tall x 12 3/4″ wide x 8 3/4 deep and weighs in at a hefty 17.2 pounds. I’m not sure why, but someone long ago refinished the cabinet with a faux woodgrain look. It actually looks quite good. There are some minor chips and nicks in the finish. Everything appears to be original, and the speaker cloth is very nice. The knobs are nice and work as intended and the radio lights up and makes a clicking sound, but I do not get any reception. It is missing the back cover. As an aside, my dad worked at the Philco plant in Sandusky, Oh. For many years as a troubleshooter fixing radios and I had a small Philco transistor radio that worked great. See my other listings. For more great items! Thank you for considering our items. Txzj pxzj1155 txzj-11 txzj-4 txzj19 txzj115.

(Arkay) Radio Laboratories Inc. It was a part of their electronics training kit program during the Golden Age of Radio. Arkay or “R-K” stood for “Radio Kit”. This amazing little radio has almost enough clear static-free volume to break the windows! The chassis has been electronically fully restored and should last for another 75 years. It plays very loud and clear, and picks up dozens of stations up and down the dial without the need of an external antenna. The case is in excellent condition! However, there are some light scuffs, but no cracks, missing pieces, repairs, deep scratches, or UV damage. The Bakelite is still nice and shiny and the dial-scale and clear plastic window are in very good shape. The cardboard loop antenna back plate has some moisture damage, however, it has been repaired with a protective water-proof coating and the loop antenna has not been affected. There is no rust or corrosion on the chassis and the loudspeaker is in mint condition. A common problem with these mid-century transformerless “All American 5″ radios was the. “Hot chassis” shock hazard. This was a well known UL approved??? Problem that plagued almost all of these old radios. However, with the advent of the polarized plug and receptacle introduced in the mid 60′s, it became possible, with a little rewiring to completely eliminate this hazard. The power supply circuit on this radio has been modified as described, and the “hot chassis” shock hazard has been eliminated. It is safer now than when it originally left the factory! Restoration Steps (full service). All student wiring checked for errors and corrected where necessary. All tubes tested and replaced where needed. All capacitors replaced regardless of condition. Electrolytic filter capacitors replaced. All resistors more than 20% out of specs replaced. All corroded wiring replaced. Installed Class X and Y safety capacitors to reduce static from AC line noise. Aligned the R. Tuned circuits to factory specifications. Custom wired the power supply circuit to eliminate the “hot chassis” shock hazard. Installed new safety polarized power cord. Installed new dial scale pilot light. Easily tuned airplane style dial. Beautiful Bakelite cabinet. High efficiency loop antenna. High gain I. F transformers for excellent performance. Frequency Range:550 kc to 1500 kc. Power Supply:110 volts AC/DC. Tube Complement:12SA7 Mixer / Oscillator, 12SK7 I. Amplifier, 12SQ7 Detector 1st Audio, 50L6 Beam Power Supply, 3525. Antenna: Built-in Loop Antenna. Cabinet Size: w 9″ x h 5″ x d 5. Cabinet Color: Mottled Brown Bakelite. Weight:3 lbs. See pictures for content and condition. Fair offers will be considered. If you have any problems with your item, please let us know before leaving feedback. No other terms accepted. Carton Size: W 12″, x D 9″, x H 8.
