The wood grain on this cabinet is beautiful. It has been refinished and very nicely done. It does show some signs of age and wear: very light surface scratches, some dinks & dents (mainly on the edges), but there is one area on the left hand side that has been hit at one time because there is a tight crack that can be seen in the photo of that side. It isn’t perfectly smooth to the touch, but it isn’t a weak spot either. There is a small area on the right hand top arch where there is an indentation that is hard to see when displayed, but it is there. I took a close-up photo of that area. There are two areas at the top of the arch on the back that is missing some small pieces of veneer (see photo). There is a criss-cross pattern that measures approx. 1 1/2 long on the very top of the back trim piece (see photo). It is under the new finish and I have no idea what it is, but thankfully, you can’t see it from the front. You have to be looking down on it, but it is there. Other than the aforementioned items, it is one of the nicest looking AK cathedrals that I’ve had the privilege to sell. The grill bars are solid with no separation. The grill cloth has no holes, tears or rips and more than likely has been replaced at one time, but some time ago. I don’t believe the two bottom knobs are correct as they do not match the middle one. The on/off knob on the right hand side has a crack near the screw, but does not extend to the face nor does it effect its ability to work properly. The other two are fine. The metal escutcheon, dial and pointer are all in excellent condition. Tube number 224 is missing, the wire that would sit on top of the tube needs to be replaced and the original power cord has been spliced together and should be replaced. The speaker plug is loose, but the cone of the speaker, from what I can see of it without physically tearing this apart, has no holes, tears or rips. (It is the correct speaker). This has a nice metal identification tag on the back. This radio measures approx. 16″ wide, 10″ deep and 19 tall. A striking addition to your collection! Thank you for your interest!
