This is a vintage 1931 Philco 90 Cathedral radio. The radio is in working condition and plays well. It has plenty of volume and is able to pull in stations across the dial. I have owned this set for over 15 years and it is time for another person to enjoy it. There is a small patch on the left rear side of the cabinet & a small bruise on the right top front. This is a heavy radio and will be packed well. Disregard the date shown on some of the photos. These are all pictures taken last week. HERE IS A REALLY TOUGH RADIO TO FIND. THIS IS A SELDOM SEEN CLIMAX CATHEDRAL RADIO, WITH THE CLIMAX DIAL. CLIMAX PUT RADIOS IN UNDER OTHER BRANDS, BUT RARELY WERE FOUND WITH THEIR OWN BRAND AND DIAL. THIS RADIO APPEARS IN WONDERFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE CABINET IS REALLY NICE, AND ONE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS IT LOOKS REFINISHED, BUT IT IS NOT. THE CHASSIS IS TOTALLY CLEAN AND NICE AS WELL. HAS ORIGINAL GRILL CLOTH WITH NO RIPS, AND ORIGINAL KNOBS. AS WITH ANY ANTIQUE RADIO, YOU WILL NEED TO BRING IT UP ON A VARIAC TO SEE IF IT WORKS, OTHERWISE YOU WILL WANT TO RECAP THE SET. I DID NOT PLUG THE SET IN. THE SET IS ONLY 13 INCHES TALL. THIS IS ABOUT AS NICE AS YOU WILL FIND ONE OF THESE CLIMAX SETS. Thanks for checking out my listing. Please review all photos and the description carefully, and take note of the additional information on the right side of the listing. This radio measures approximately 14″ tall x 9 1/2″ wide x 6 1/2 deep. It weighs about 9 1/2 lbs. The radio is decent cosmetic condition. The finish has dulled. There is a chip in the veneer in the lower right of the face. The face of the radio is separating from the sides and back (there is a small gap at the top). The bolt from the bottom of the radio is missing. The 2 knobs are wood. The cord is insulated with cloth, which is deteriorating. All tubes are present but untested. I did plug the radio in. I got a hum when it turned on. It quickly faded to silence. Please review the photos for further details. The first option listed may not be the least expensive. Additional photo(s) below. Radio was fully recapped, a. Ll tubes tested and replaced as needed. New dial light and external antenna were installed. Chassis was cleaned and controls lubricated. Cabinet was cleaned and hand rubbed with Finish Restorer. There are some minor wood blemishes (see pictures). Original grill cloth is clean and intact. Dial graphics are pristine. Both wood knobs are present and operate properly. This radio is in excellent condition, both cosmetically and functionally. Dimensions are : 14″Lx10″Wx19H It is heavy. Thank you and Good Luck! I found this in my late relatives house while cleaning it up. I plugged it in and it made a humming sound, so I would believe it’s in working order. Both antique shops said this is a rare early 1930s model “HARTCO” cathedral style depression era radio. It’s approximately 13 inches tall 10 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The radio was a very unique design the antique shop said. Radio has all of its original knobs. The radios over 90+ years tube style electronic chassis is in it’s original condition from the day it was bought. My relative stored it in the cedar chest climate control room.
