This is wonderful art deco style Zenith case portable radio with plug and original battery that was part of a collection that we acquired. It has the waveguide antenna and the external cable with suction mounting cup. The original Instruction folder is are safely stored in the back, but shows a bit of heat damage. When we put a powered up the radio with the cord, we could hear static as the volume was adjusted but we couldn’t get the tuning needle to work. When I opened the back, I could manipulate the knob and feel some play so I assume the cord that connects the knob shaft to the tuner may be worn. I didn’t play with it much further. It may just be the radio reception isn’t good here, but it might be a bigger issue, so it’s a project radio. It also needs a cord replacement as there are bare wires. There is a minor wear on the original case, but the remainder is in good shape This radio measures 15″ x 6″ x 10. Amazing condition for age. All grill segments are even. No swirl in a segment plane. All segments are even curved. It is very hard to find all perfect even grill. Many grills are bend distorted due to age. Restored recapped works well loud. However it is not guaranty to work. It can stop working any moment due to the age. Even those it works perfect. All stations in correct places. It is an interesting Radio. Many Years ago I have acquired. 3x similar radios in average shape. One radio had body. Crack other has broken and bend grill ribs. The other did not have a handle etc. So, I have composed this one from 3x radios. I have picked up better parts from all of them. I have selected best grill ribs, best dial, best handle and. Perfect body and a better chassis and speaker. This radio is a result of long selection, it. Is of museum quality. I intended to keep it for myself. As part of my mini collection. Butterscotch Catalin ADDISON Courthouse Radio Working Vintage. Up for sale is a very impressive yellow/butterscotch Addison tube radio from the 1940s in cosmetically wonderful shape. Prior to shooting it, I had not noticed that the last vertical bar on the right had slid over to the left and it should be re-glued into position as in photo #. The knobs and bars are all of a deep burgundy color (closer to photo # 11). The cloth over the speaker (which is in very fine condition) should also be straightened and re-glued. Whatever streaks you might see on the outside is marbleizing in the Catalin, and there are no visible cracks in the case – except on the INSIDE floor (see photos 9 & 10). However, these do NOT show on the bottom’s exterior. (Such cracks form over time due to the shrinkage of the Catalin, while the chassis remained the same). The radio has its original cord and several stations can be heard clearly, but with some static between each. It can use some diligent cleaning to reach the desired yellow that most suits your taste, or simply leave as is. Tube, radio, bakelite, fada, emerson, transistor. Vintage Bendix 526C Green Swirl Catalin Tube Radio for Parts or Restoration. Because sometimes it takes a bit to get it going. Theres a crack on front. Left side has a part cracked off as well. The green color is not as brilliant as it should be(Looks brownish with spots). Some one that knows how too clean and polish Bakelite may be able to bring back the bright green color.
