A vintage 1941 Silvertone Commentator Bakelite beetle case radio. Great marbling with orange and green to the case, tube lights up but no sound and the dial cover is missing with slight wear. Our items are vintage, they are not new and show varying signs of age and wear i. Abrasions, dings, patina, etc.. We do our best to describe all of our items, but often we don’t overstate the obvious signs of age that are inherent in vintage items. Unless noted otherwise, our items are pre-owned and will have visual and physical cues typical of an item that has been handled and used. We do not sell “on approval”. All items in the above listing are thoroughly described and contain pertinent information regarding research on make, model, and condition of item. Therefore we do not sell subject to confirmation and all sales are final.
This vintage radio from the 1930s is a rare find for collectors. The Porto Baradio, with its stunning Art Deco Bakelite case, is a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of American-made radios from that era. The BC tube radio is perfect for display or use and comes from a well-known brand, Stewart Warner. Made in the United States, this radio is an excellent addition to any collection of vintage electronics, and it is sure to impress both seasoned collectors and newcomers alike. End handles are crack and damage, dry.
Here is a RCA Radiola Special from 1923 made by Wireless Specialty Apparatus Co. The radio is in a fitted case, I think this must be custom made for it a long time ago for portability. It has a built in antenna in the lid and storage compartments for batteries and headphones. The external battery posts are wired up and I powered her up that way, the wires can easily be routed to the battery compartment. We have another at 1420 but I could not get that one, the radio may not tune that high? The variometer turns freely and a new grid leak resister is installed. The only thing I have done to this radio is wire up the battery posts. Please check the pictures they will show it off well. The case measures 16″ x 10 1/2″ x 7 1/2.
