Vintage Silvertone AM/SW Magic Eye Radio #6130 (1939) COMPLETELY RESTORED

This completely restored 1939 Silvertone is quite rare and an absolute beauty! The burled wood and other veneers are a fantastic combination that the photos depict and are just as stunning in person. Everything on this radio is in excellent condition. With a new green magic tuning eye, original push buttons, and lacquered original wooden knobs, the combination is wonderful and will be the prize of someone’s collection. It sounds great too, with good reception and selectivity using an external 6 foot antenna wire and a six inch speaker. It also has a hi/low sound for your listening preference. The SW receives well, too, but will require a longer antenna for best reception. As with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost detail. The cabinet retains the original stain, which was rejuvenated to nourish and enrich the wood. The bottom and top trim were redone with dark mahogany toners for a very appealing and balanced appearance. The entire cabinet was then given six coats of quality clear gloss lacquer. Finally, it was finished off with a beeswax/orange oil polish. The dial face has crisp and clear graphics that are nicely back lit. The dial cover is original and was polished. The green tuning eye is new and very bright. The wooden knobs are original and have also been refinished and lacquered. The Bakelite push buttons are original and functional. The grill cloth behind the wooden grill is original. The power cord has been replaced and the plug is an original and polished. There are no dings, scrapes or damage to the cabinet. Felt pads were added to the underside to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the external antenna. This rare and delightful masterpiece is very desirable to collectors and those with a discerning eye for the beauty of this state of the art for the times radio. And, now that it is restored, this 80 year old will continue to provide many more years of enjoyment. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good working order. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. This is the most beautiful radio I have ever owned in my life. I do not want to sell but must sell dues to circumstances. It does play on all bands but the tuning dial belt just broke. I do not have the time to order a new belt but they are easy to find on line and are very cheap. This radio would look good in the home or office. The dial does light up in different colors depending on which band you are on. It does have 3 bands. Medium Wave, Shortwave 1 & Shortwave 2 for 3 bands total. Wow, what a stunning radio! This beautiful and alluring gem is a fine example of the Art Deco style and will be a treasured addition to any collection. The very colorful and well lit dial face is in excellent condition and really sets this radio off. The face wood grains are just wonderful and add to the fine quality of this radio. It also has a high-low tone control for your listening preference. This is a radio that is not run of the mill and fairly hard to find restored such as this one is. The cabinet retains the original stains, which were rejuvenated and enhanced to nurture the wood veneers. The feet and trim were redone with dark mahogany toners to match the original presentation. The entire cabinet was given six coats of a high quality clear lacquer finish with fabulous results. As a final step it was waxed to further bring out the wood grains beauty. The dial graphics are crisp and clear. The dial cover, grill cloth and power cord have been replaced. It uses the original oak leaf motif ivory colored plug. The Bakelite knobs are original. The cabinet has a few very minor dings commensurate with age, including a small spot on the right side upper rear where the veneer had split. It has been stabilized and repaired. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using a six foot external wire antenna. At 82 years old and newly restored, this high class radio will bring visual and audio pleasure for many years to come if well cared for. It will be quite the conversation piece and the perhaps the envy of other collectors. Made by RCA, the innovators of the era, this three band radio was cutting edge for the day. Tall and stately, it still has the original dark finish, though the chassis/electronics have been completely restored. This radio looks like the ones from the old movies and has the look and feel of those times. It has very good deep, rich sound with bass/treble control into an 8 inch speaker. With six tubes, it has great reception and selectivity using a 5 foot antenna lead (included). Each is lighted separately – green, orange and red respectively, which is a very nice touch. The tuning knob has two speed controls. The cabinet was dismantled and cleaned. It was given three coats of hand rubbed beeswax/orange oil polish to nourish and bring out the beauty of the woods. The dial face graphics are in excellent condition with crisp graphics and very well lit by two bulbs independent of the three for the channel indicator lights. The dial cover and escutcheon are original, as are the grill cloth and knobs. The power cord is new. It does have a few stress cracks and distressed areas on the top. I decided to leave them as reminders of its 82 years, as attempts to repair them would detract from the originality of the otherwise very good condition of the cabinet. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using 5 foot wire lead antenna. Now it is restored and can be enjoyed for many years to come if well cared for. Vintage RCA T60 AM/SW Magic Eye Radio (1939) COMPLETELY RESTORED

The end of the Great Depression heralded new and bold radio designs, and this one sure fits the bill. It has beautiful inlaid veneers for a rich, warm look. It has been restored inside and out for many more years of enjoyment. And finally, it has an “RCA” input to play modern devices. That input was originally touted for a phonograph or the very new and rare modern device – television! Note the label for it on the back of the chassis. The cabinet retains the original stain, which was rejuvenated, nourished and toners added to replicate the original appearance. The trim was redone with dark walnut toners. The entire cabinet was then given six coats of clear lacquer, and finally waxed to further bring out the wonderful wood finishes. The dial graphics are crisp and clear, being well back-lit from the pilot light. The green magic eye shows brightly from behind as well. The knobs and glass dial cover are original, with one knob slightly different than the others. The speaker grill cloth and power cord are new, using the original plug. Overall, the cabinet is in excellent condition. There is one small blemish at the bottom right as can be seen in the photos. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using a five foot wire lead antenna (included). At 80 years old, this radio still looks fantastic and sounds really nice too. And the magic eye in the background makes it subtle and inviting, creating a warm.
