Please take a quick look at our video of this amazing Zenith and then read all the details below! The walnut cabinet is refinished and looks great. Only very minor wear is present. This radio has been well cared for and is powered by 6 tubes. The radio’s electronics have been serviced and as a result it sounds perfect pulling in stations both local and distant with just internal the internal loop antenna. The design of this radio is firmly rooted in late Art Deco. This example has had its tubes, capacitors and resistors tested and replaced where bad or weak. The knobs are original as is the dial cover – usually the dial covers are reproductions. It even has its orignal back – very rare on this model! This was also one of the first radio models Zenith produced after World War 2 that wasn’t a carryover from before the war (at least the cabinet). Before looking at the video – please click. Zenith 6D029 sounds excellent with its 5 inch original speaker and it pulls in stations loud and clear with no hum. Volume control is smooth with no scratch or pop noises. The dial light works and lights the stations in a dark room. The dial needle moves in sync with the tuning knob as designed and it is in good condition. As Zenith said, ” The quality goes in before the name goes on “. This model is no exception to that motto! This radio has been electronically serviced: A. Ll tubes were checked and one was found to be weak and was replaced with a new old stock (NOS) tube, all others tested strong, paper/wax capacitors were replaced as needed, the tuner path and bearings were cleaned and lubricated, the knobs, cabinet, and brass trim as polished, the volume and tone pots were cleaned and lubed, the chassis was cleaned. The radio was bench tested. There is only very minor wear on the case, barely visible in normal light, but given the age you will find minor imperfections and blemishes on the front, sides, back, top, and bottom of the radio. There is a back on this radio and it is original – very rare! The cord and plug look to be original. The cabinet is stunning! These models are fairly rare electronically serviced and cosmetically restored and with a case this nice. We checked the online value site, Worth point, and found most of these models nowhere near the condition of our example.
