The radio does power on when plugged in and turned on. I did not hear a hum or any static. It was not hooked up to an antenna. He backlit dial light works! The wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks really nice. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. The tuning dial works well and the on/off/volume dial/switch functions nicely as well. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I do not have the proper equipment to test this piece any further. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself.
