I just finished this beautiful 1939 philco tube radio model 40-124. This little fella features the very nice front speaker design with a new grill cloth, six functional push buttons that you can individually set by adjusting the trimmers in the rear of the radio, and the polished and resealed bracket with the radio call signs reinstalled. I have installed a new ac power cord, new dial lamp, new dial cover, and new filter and paper capacitors. The cabinet is absolutely beautiful and is 12″ long x 8″ tall x 5.5 deep. A great size to display anywhere in the home or office. The speaker sounds clear and the volume is strong. The knobs have been polished and resealed. The remaining electrical/internal components have be cleaned, adjusted, and lubed if needed. The 6 tubes have been tested as well and any weal were tossed and replaced. There is a small antenna wire attached but if you attach a longer wire your reception and clarity will improve. The far right push button must be pressed in in order for you to manually search the dial for stations. The radio plays great and sounds very nice with no issues.
