This is one classy and stately looking radio. It is one of the limited number of Ingraham Bakelite cabinets that were made. Art deco lines abound with multiple dimensions all around. This radio is also very unique in that it is in three pieces – the front, the top and both sides an inverted U shape and the back. The cabinet is dark chocolate, beautifully marbled with black. And, this five tube radio sounds good with great sensitivity. The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks or blemishes. It was disassembled, cleaned and then polished to a deep luster. The dial face has crisp and clear graphics, nicely lit with the golden rays background. The dial cover and black “Mae West” knobs are original. The power cord is new, using the original Bakelite plug. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal antenna.. There is an external antenna lead too if better reception is needed for some areas, though I did not need it in the Pittsburgh, PA area. This radio is highly collectible, and sought after for its classy looks for decorating. Built the year the USA joined WWII, it must have broadcast a lot of news, music and stories. Since being newly restored, it will easily give another 77 years of enjoyment.
