Beautiful, fully restored Packard Bell radio, model # 46A circa 1938. All capacitors replaced, new polarized AC cord, new Hammond transformer runs nice and cool, new old stock 6E5 tuning eye tube, full complement of glass tubes tested as new or very good, speaker is also in excellent condition. New dial lamps, all controls cleaned/lubed and operate smooth and quiet. Cabinet- Heavy solid wood cabinet required no repairs, refinished with Mohawk clear and dark brown lacquers, original grille cloth, 4 new felt covered feet. Beautiful solid and ornate cabinet with nice detailing. Nice knobs with new felts, original patina on the dial bezel, new dial lens cover. Performance- Very clear and loud player, excellent reception and sensitivity all across the dial! The shortwave band also receives well. Tuning eye tube is very bright and responsive, this radio is an exceptional all around performer. Control functions, L-R : 2 postion band switch, On/Off/Volume, Tuning, 3 position Tone. Tone control works very well, each position with clear and differing sounds. I’ve owned and restored many radios of the era, this is one of the best. Just a great performer, in great condition, and nice looking set. Perfect dial, edge lit glass, the lettering illuminates with a silvery-white glow against the black backround. A beautiful example of the late 1930′s Art Deco styled table radios. Radio measures about 16″ x 9″h x 8 d. Package weight is 18 lbs 4 oz, measures 24″x 18″ x18.
